  • Players we need.

Blake Green. Joel Thompson. Josh Mansour. Michael Gordon. & someone like vunivalu is who we should be after. How come teams like the storm can pick up players of his ability & we can’t? See if we go looking in the big wide world of rugby like the storm did you will find players of this strength power speed & ability out there looking for the right opportunity. The best thing is the they don’t cost the earth. Look at Parra with Ranradra, storm also have Koroibete playing wing in rugby is no different to NRL. The player we should go real hard for is Tyrone Peachey. He is off contract & is one hell of a player, can cover many positions .Would love him at the club.

Tedesco, Taumalolo, Milford and Thurston would do nicely if we had a 10 million dollar salary cap

Milford is who I would go after but I doubt he will leave the Broncos, I mean why get $1m a year at Canberra when you can get $400K in Brisbane....it's a no brainer.

Mansour wouldn't be cheap for a winger but I like him maybe we trade Tupou for him? lol

Solomona from the Storm or that Passi from Titans would be nice additions too.

      agreed peach would be perfect
weve had great success ar eastsa with rugby players turned to league john brass , russel fairfax both had brilliant skills that transerred to league very well. throuble is u8nion has more money attached than league these days, a boit of a south pacific tour woulkdnt go astray, fiji and samoa both have a dearth of talented union players abnd a will to better oneself for their family.

Exactly. a life style in the nrl is a great carrot for some of the talent that is out there not on the big bucks. Have a look at the rugby sevens players, their are some big boy out there who can run like the wind.

we could even do something now before june 30, my club did, no money invo9lved, he just gets strapped and chillie chicken with the rest after a win!

            Players we need?

            Players who can tackle.

"If you can't tackle, don't bother ringing up" - Jack Gibson

Like LOD, SBW, Morley, our 2013 GF team [as someone else here suggested recently].

Toops can tackle...it's just that he's rarely on his wing when trouble comes a calling.
He's usually standing alongside his centre, or somewhere else infield.

He should stay on his wing, and let the tries be scored thru the centres...let those inside him take the blame.

He crunched Lewis in defence, bumped and fended him off at will and ran straight over the top of him using what he laughingly calls “the Maori sidestep”.

              #####

Trouble for us the other night was that most of the "'Maori sidesteppers" were playing for the Storm!

Tupou cannot or will not tackle. Against Canterbury I counted at least two times where he stepped out of the way of the Dogs winger and tried to push him out (unsuccessfully). If he just stood in front of the bloke, nowhere to go, no try. But he literally created the space all by himself, by stepping out of the way. He created a try for the Tigers by failing to return to the defensive line when they ran on the last. His performance against Melbourne was embarrassing. When the Storm broke into the backfield, he came racing in waving his arms around and took no-one. Was he trying to confuse someone or was he hoping to knock the ball down? Who knows, but he certainly wasn't going to put his shoulder through anyone. No, Tupou cannot tackle. He is scared of contact. Football is not the game for him. He should try tennis.

                      3. Shaun Lane

Shaun Lane can't get a gig at the Warriors and couldn't get a start over t-Rex,

Has any one brought a storm player who has gone on to replicate there form??

I'd like to see lolohia from the Warriors come over. Can play any position in the backline
                      Campbell-Gillard from the panthers
Michael Morgan, as good as JT is, this guy is the key to the Cowboys offence. He just pops up everywhere. IMO is the best no 6 in the comp

If we have Teddy. Moses,Campbell-Gillard and one of Lane, Solomona, or Paasi by 2018 add the youngsters coming through plus JWH, Cords, Maubs, SST and the other experienced players worth keeping we will have one hell of a football team.

Wade Graham is another player I am a huge fan of but I imagine he will cost a packet and the really big money really needs to be thrown at Teddy.

Gordon will be ok as a stop gap fullback next year but I see next year as another painful year but if we recruit smart over the next 12 months we could be looking at a really good squad for 2018 but those 4 would be the priorities.

I would throw the chequebook at Cronk. Our team needs leadership both on and off the field an he ticks both boxes.
Also, you can build a team around him and he will help develop our youngsters into better players.
Offer him a 4 year contract to get the deal over the line and then a coaching gig afterwards.
This will mean bye-bye Pearce and either Hastings or Watson to 5/8.
