    1. Matterson IMO is the real deal, calm, nice pass on him, likes the way he runs, nice long kick on him
    2. Watson, covers so many positions, looks good, where do you see him long term?
    3. JWH simply a beast, put a 'C' beside his name ASAP and watch the boys follow our inspirational 'true leader'

I agree definitely with 2 and 3. Matterson has played solid but he ran himself a couple of times today when we had overlaps. Happy to have him in the squad though. Seems very level-headed.

Fair point re. Matterson, but in time I'm guessing he will grow with those decisions. I just like a big body wearing 6 with plenty of skill and willingness to run, the defence will think twice before sliding

He did, but it looks different on TV. Not always that easy to beat flailing arms and rushing defences in real time. He has potential and gives every indication he will improve. I think he is a good prospect, Ryan Matterson.

I like Matto. He'll only get better with more games. He should back himself more though. Take the line on. Look to isolate the opposition small halves.
Watson has loads of potential. Future star!
JWH is a beast. Kearney would be a stubborn fool not to include him in the NZ WC squad.

and finally we have a kicker who can put up a torpedo bomb ...so frustrated that Pearce and Hastings only ever put up those benign drop punt type of bombs, but was good today to see Matto put up the spiral bomb and cause problems for the opposition back three !

I don't see Matterson as a 5/8. And if the rumours about us chasing Coote and Moses are correct neither do they.

I like Coote, but as a no.1 not 6, Moses is a turnstile so I'm glad we didn't get either of them.

Meanwhile most of our other backs did (besides Copley but he barely touched the ball. looked better than his first 2.3 games though)

Pearce put up a monster of a torpedo bomb last match. I was so confused why he doesn't do them regularly. It was a beauty. Good to see Matto putting them up though.

Be patient Hawk, for some it takes 200 odd games to learn new things
