Trent Robinson extends contract until end of 2019 |
The Sydney Roosters are delighted to announce that Head Coach Trent Robinson has extended his contract by a further two years. Today's announcement ensures that Robinson will remain with the Foundation Club until the end of the 2019 season. "We are fortunate to have one of the game's most astute coaches at the helm of our proud Club," said Sydney Roosters Chairman, Mr Nick Politis AM. "Trent is a man of high integrity whose unwavering pride and passion for the Sydney Roosters and the area we represent has cultivated a strong culture at our Club. "His strong leadership and resilience, especially at a time when our on-field performances have not been up to his or the Club's high standards, also says a lot about the type of coach that he is. "But just as significantly, Trent has played a vital role in the development of all the players within our system, and it's wonderful to know that he will continue to lead the Roosters for at least the next three years," added Mr Politis AM. Robinson spoke about the pride he felt to extend his tenure with the Foundation Club. "The Sydney Roosters have been a big part of my football life, and it's a privilege to hold this position," said Robinson. "That's largely due to everyone involved with the Club - from our Chairman and Board of Directors, to all the players, staff, sponsors and members. There's a committed team here and I'm proud to continue my role with the Club," he added. |

This is a surprising yet very much welcome move as I believe that Trent "Robbo" Robinson is fantastic coach and stability in the coaching ranks can only benefit our team going forward. I hope that this means that by sticking by the manager that underperforming players will now be put on notice and those who do not aim up will be replaced. Hopefully the days of sulky players getting their way all the time at our club are over.

IMO this season has been a write-off due to a mixture of super bad luck with injuries, a gamble on a youth policy that hasn't seen immediate results, refs who love to fark us over at every turn, Pearce getting busted being an idiot, the lack of ANY goal kicker in most games and the wear-out resulting from all the losses that has killed our attitude.
We should be allowed to end our season now and get straight into pre-season training for next year (where we'll do MUCH better.)Last edited by ism22; 06-02-2016, 10:45 PM.

Awesome news on 3 points.
1. There's no other coach I'd take in the game before him, I love everything he stands for and the passion he has for Rugby League and our club.
2. It was vital this was done ASAP. We have a large bulk of players coming off contract at the end of next year, all waiting on the announcement of the new bargaining agreement. The last thing we needed going into this period where there will be more activity than we as a game have probably ever seen was uncertainty around our coach.
3. It's about bloody time we had a coach who lasted more than a few seasons.

Brilliant news, indeed. The reasons R6 mentioned are bang on. I also think he needs to change his staff around tho. This Johns experiment as a halves consultant has not worked - assuming it got off the ground. I can see Fitzy becoming a full time assistant and not a trainer / assistant in the next year or two. It'd be good to get another well credentialed assistant. Not that he'd accept an Assistant's gig but man it'd be awesome if Cleary came on board! Ex tricolour and a very good, measured coach.
