  • Brendan Elliot

If the mail on Brendan Elliot going to Newcastle is true I think that would be a bad move for our club.
Elliot just turned 22 earlier in the year and yeah he's not a headline-grabbing line-breaking strike centre, but I reckon he's done an excellent job for us every time he's had an opportunity in the top grade.
    Hope we keep him....

Yeah I would have tried to move on Toops before Elliot, if true it's continued shitty recruitment and retention.

If Gordon does sign we already have plenty of outside backs. There are probably a couple that could be shown the door ahead of Elliott.
        Gordon
        Mitchell
        Toops
        SKD
        Fergo
        Copely
        Elliott
        Burgess

Elliot leaving will be similar to when linnett left, no stand out and replaceable.

            Nothing makes sense anymore,

Elliott is better than toops and the Pom who are easily the 2 worst wingers in the comp.

I don't understand why we can't have a winger that doesn't make basic errors.

Maybe other clubs aren't stupid enough to want crap like toops and the Pom

Good luck to him if he does go. And thanks for doing a good job last year as a fill-in. His try against the Warriors for an under strength team in particular was a stand out.

Elliott is safe and reliable and can tackle.
                Toups should go first.

Joe Burgess not a first grader at the moment but he is young, fast, and strong. There is a lot of upside to him. It depends on whether Robbo was expecting him to be an immediate prospect.

Maybe no one wants Toops or thinks he's worth 200/250k a year. Ditto Copley who's injured and would be of no value this season.

I think Joe is on peanuts plus the upside you've mentioned so it's worth giving him a season or 2.

                        Yeah sounds pretty lame.

Get rid of a local junior aka the Bondi Hipster who has actually been alright (in his limited appearances) and sign Gordon (so that Parra can get Hayne.)

Do I need to say that it's a little funny how a club that breached the cap can get Hayne after releasing Gordon, but a club that's $600k UNDER the cap has to release a fringe 1st grader in order to get Gordon? Maybe we'll get Gordon and somebody else?

Can't say the Bondi Hipster is the reason why we are sitting on 2nd last position with 2 wins to our name. Sounds like our wingers are on notice though? We'd be what:
                        1. Gordon
                        2. Latrell
                        3. Copley
                        4. SKD
                        5. Fergo

At full strength? Then try to get SBW or heck... even some random journeyman, workhorse forward to join our ranks.

Right now I think we have talent but no leadership. As a result, we're dropping balls out of frustration/rawness rather than taking the time to do things properly.

Lucky the Roosters didn't get rid of the last Pom after his first few games. Many were calling him a dud early on. His name was Moorrlleeyy!

Why the hell we would let Elliott go before Toops is astounding.

Brendan Elliott is not a local junior.
