  • Pearce Will Play Origin If Selected

Interesting little story in the DT this morning that Pearce is prepared to go against the wishes of his club and coach and play Origin if selected. If that is true, then that's the final straw in my opinion. He is not interested in anything other than himself and does not give two hoots about the club that has supported him through the years and especially during the past few difficult months. He effectively torpedoed our season with his pre-season antics and instead of repaying the faith and trust the club has placed in him he will put his own interests first again.

I have been a supporter of Pearce in the past but if he decalres himself available and plays Origin leaving us in the lurch than thats it for me. I hope the club wipe him and move on.

Not true, Daley has spoken to Pearce and said if Pearce is right to go Daley will pick him, if not Pearce won't be picked. Its the only way to escape penalty for not wanting to play Origin. Pearce will not play!

The article is saying that Pearce will tell Daley he is right to play. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. After watching Daley on NRL360 the other night I have no doubt he will pick him.

I don't think you can call Pearce selfish if he wants to play. Is it $50K per match? $150K before tax for the series? That would be hard to turn down. Also Origin is probably the highest level a professional NRL player can reach. I hope he doesn't play. NSW will most certainly get smashed again and it won't go well for Pearce. But still if he wants to play and he is picked then I think it is his decision to make and ultimately his business, not the coach's and not the club's.

HC, you are off the mark. The official rules state that if Pearce doesn't make himself available for selection then he won't be allowed to play for the Roosters either. So, in fact Pearce is saying exactly what the club needs him to say. Daley is also saying exactly what needs to be said.

There are no doubt confidential discussions going on between Pearce, Daley, and probably Robinson as well. If Pearce not ready to play then no doubt Daley will do the right thing by him and publicly make an excuse to warrant non-selection.

Dice is spot-on, it's all 'tick-a-box' stuff atm. They may need him later when Jimmy gets trampled (again) by 'SlamminSamI'llplaywellfor15minutesduringorigin1an ddonothingfortherestoftheseries' .

All the media about this is absolute BS.
While definitely no rocket scientist, Daley would not be so stupid as to pick a player that is going to make himself unavailable and Pearce will not be so stupid to officially make himself unavailable.
IF the club and PEarce do not feel he is ready, then Daley will simply not pick him.

This crap in the media is just stupidity
The Internet is a place for posting silly things
Try and be serious and you will look stupid

As much as I don't rate the bloke he has ticked all the right boxes to be available for the Roosters, turdburg and his nrl cronies would like nothing better than to make an example of the club

I think he'll play. I don't want him to as a selfish roosters fan. But I wouldn't begrudge him for it.. He's an nrl player. Playing origin is apart of his job and an honour.

What I don't get, is that all these years Jamie Lyon has made it well know he doesn't want to play Origin even at times when NSW has struggled in the Threequarters....... yet he's never had a problem playing for Manly during this time.

Tell me how is it that Jamie Lyon can make himself unavailable for rep honours and still play for Manly all these years and Pearce can't do the same, just asking.

This is what confuses me. I only just heard about this rule a few days ago. I don't remember it ever being used , as is evident with Jamie Lyon.
