Funnily enough I have no idea. I just realized how weird that is too. I'm not much of a drinker so it doesn't bother me much. In 9 years of driving here I have only picked up one speeding ticket. Driving over the speed limit here is standard.

Lock the carnt up and throw away the key.

Robbo cops a $40k fine for caring about the game.

          McFeigner should get double!

I genuinely feel for MacGreggor because this could happen to anyone. It is a poor judgment call to drive after a big night out. It is against the law and it does put people at risk but he did believe he was under. For such reasons, I'd like to see cars enabled with a breathalyser that disables the ignition. But that's a distraction.

I do not like how he brought the game into disrepute on ANZAC Day and I don't appreciate his comments re Robbo. But he does not deserve something like this. He may be a poor coach but he is not a bad person.

I do believe the NRL will once again show their inconsistency in punishments.

He must of had a massive drinking session, he said he waited 9hrs from his last drink to when he decided to drive. A rough rule is to wait 1 hour per every drink you had after your first 3. So he had at least 14 drinks with his "family"

I think it is quite a good idea. Everyone knows how hard it is to have one drink at a pub and leave.
Yep it's the same in Japan. As a result, they've got super cheap options were a guy drives your car home and his mate follows behind on his motorbike.

After a few drinks you just factor in $10-$20 for these guys to take your car home. Easy! I like it because it makes it clear how many drinks you're allowed to have. Oh and EVERYBODY in the car gets charged, not just the driver (fair call IMO.)

                  ---

IMO most Australians don't realise DUI is a criminal offence, they see it as being a bit like driving 115 in a 110 area if you're busted with 0.062. It's a criminal offence... you get arrested for it. Cops will take your fingerprints, interview you and throw you in one of their holding cells. From there you'll get bailed at some point or spend a weekend in a cell (and face the court when it's open.) You'll then appear in court and the court will decide your fate (more than likely you'll get a crim record.)

IMO the message should be that you can't just be a little DUI... you're either caught DUI or you're not. While I'm sure I could drive after a couple of schooies, the rules say 0.05.

I find it hypocritical that the NRL that the NRL will suspend Pearce for half the season when he hasn't broken the law, but will see a criminal offence as being a non-issue.

Guy i know got done for .073, mid range. Could drive all the way up to his court case, then the judge let him off, had no other infringements from 23 years of driving. I assume that means no criminal record then?

They proved their inconsistencies with Liam Knight and his 4 match ban for breaking the law and 8 weeks for Pearce who didn't.

Drunk drivers can kill people. If the NRL is serious about its image, it should not tolerate such behaviour. But, no, the NRL prefers to dish out huge fines for coaches who compain about the disrespectful attitude of referees or suspend players who engage in crude, but harmless jokes.

I believe that drink driving should carry mandatory gaol sentencing as it puts people's lives in danger and there is no excuse for getting behind the wheel of a vehicle while intoxicated.

Ok ok what about running red lights? going over the speed limit in suburban built up areas and in school zones when kiddies are around, driving when stoned, etc , etc, operating machinery when on medication or talking on/ using mobile phones when driving? Those things can put lives in danger too. How about we build a gaol for all nearly everyone then?

I don't recall a punishment for Freddy apart from public humiliation and maybe a fine from the club.

I reckon it should be dealt with in house and so should have the Pearce thingy, I think the Dragons will eventually sack the silly pr*ck.
