    I'm with RC here.

Comparing J Carney to Cross is an insult to Cross.

Cross was slow even in his heyday - nowadays he'd not make first grade at any NRL club

J Carney is a tryscorer - give him time

You have got to be kidding about cross pace. Before his 2 conseutive years of serious leg injuries, he had superb pace. That changed after those 2 very bad injuries bit in his "heyday" he was extremely fast.

Now it's Justin Carney to the rescue

Roosters winger Justin Carney saved the life of a mother of three from the surf at North Bondi on Monday.

Carney, 22, was completing a team recovery session when he noticed Jacqueline Urquhart in distress 100m from shore.

He raced from the sand and swam through the undertow to reach the 48-year-old and drag her to safety.

After being reunited with her saviour at North Bondi yesterday, Ms Urquhart said she thought her time had come until Carney came to her rescue.

She had been dragged beyond a sand bar by the swirling sea while going for her daily dip.

"I thought I was gone . . . until he came I thought I was going to die at Bondi Beach," Ms Urquhart said yesterday.

A humble Carney described the feat as a "decent training run".

"I just saw she was in trouble and did what I had to do," he said.

            >>>>> >>>>> >>>>>

He just needs some good coaching and to play in a team that's got some idea how to attack...and how to set up the backs.

Give the c a bronze medallion and send him back to Fyshwick

He actually unofficially approached us last season about coming back.

The other day I was about to road rage on someone in Coogee driving like an idiot - until I saw it was old chalkbones himself.

Yep, Cross and Barnett would be handy right now.

Remember Barnett's try against the Sharks in 98.

I think Kane Linnett has the potential to be a lot better than Quentin.

I am still dumbfounded by his being dropped andthe fact it looks like they are not trying to extend his contract (which I think finishes this year).

See its decisions like that that have lost me to the club. I didnt include him in the list of players Quentin is better than, because Kane pulls the coasters off Quentin's chair.

Its these sorts of decisions, like not securing a genuine line breaking fast center, who can pass or take a tackle, with a football brain, like Linett that has me stumped.

Especially when we need good outside backs and a fullback. But we'll probably sign 3 back rowers who will play center and wing next year.

i hope they sign the kid, although this shoulder injury may not be good, and thats the only reason I can see that may be holding them back.

If they keep J Carney ahead of him it's a disgrace.

Agree. But judging by the retention of certain players, I would not be surprised by such an idiotic decision

                                What a shame.

I was critical of the kid but I liked the way he went back to Newtown and played well.

He was also very good in that first half against the Sharks.

I don't think he is a star but surely he isn't our worse.
