One of the reasons Souths were in disarray last night was because we belted them.

We gave it to those carnts from the opening whistle and they folded.
Credit must go to Robbo and the boys and fark making excuses for the vermin!
They are professional footy players that wouldn't begrudge a team mate(S Burgess) maximising his earning. No one would take a pay cut to keep Walker, McQueen and Api.
It just doesn't work that way anymore.

I think what has been extremely impressive from a coaching point of view has been the noticeable growth in so many players over the first 6 rounds and I don't just mean from Round 1 to Round 6 I mean compared to where they were last year.
When you look at the starting 13 it's hard not to put a tick next to nearly all of their names to say we've seen growth in them this year. Not just performance wise but in regards to leadership too.
It's hard to keep a team hungry and as disciplined as we were last night after such a prolonged period of failure. It speaks of trust in strong leadership.
We might not win anything this year and we're a good chance of missing the 8 but this may be a season we look back on with the benefit of hindsight as one of Robbo's finest.

WE have more reason to cry in that context & we got cut in the last minute of overtime last week by one of our past favourites.
One thing about Robbo. he &; his young brigade have not looked for excuses.
They have made incremental improvements & refused to allow those 3 close losses to affect them.
They earnt that win last night as a result of learning from those losses.
Robbo was a genius the way he used his bench given the injury to SST,
None of the PSEUDO coaches on this forum could have anticipated his master stroke in giving the 80 to Napa"Qui audet adipiscitur"

It astounds me that ppl question robbos coaching ability. We have lost 3/4 of our spine and replaced it with kids. We have lost our two best forwards to injury. And our enforcer.
Many ppl regard Bennett as the greatest ever coach. What happened when he went to Newcastle? With an average roster.
Robbo has done great things for this club and he will continue to do so in the future.Embrace the Hate! JC

Watching the replay back again today (live was at 5:50am here in NY) to get a better feel for the game, and I think there is still some way to go before we are turned around.
The big improvement on Friday was our intensity and determination, but our structure and execution were still very much lacking. If not for The girlfriend basher (not the fullback or 5/8, the other one...) being such a ball hog they'd have put 2-3 tries on us in the first half due to the same old defensive lapse down the right. That still needs to be fixed if we want to compete with all but the shittier sides.
Souths I think have really come apart at the seams the last month or so, so that probably helped too.
I'll admit that we definitely player better than I thought we would, but I want to see us back this up over the next few weeks. Penrith will be a big test next week, we should by rights beat the dragons given they cannot score a bloody point at the moment, then we will hopefully start getting some players back.

The plan last night was to absolutely belt the Rabbitohs; run hard; and offload as much as reasonably possible. It worked a charm and that was Robbo's call along with the playing group saying it was time to aim up in defence of course.
As said, execution with the ball in hand is way off. We don't have the skill yet. I think if we retain the same formula as last night we'll see further improvement. Stick to the basics and offload up the middle. It worked. Whenever we went sideways it didn't work so much. We need to adjust our game plan to simple footy just like last night

His record will probably stay untouched, and should be regarded as one of, if not the best.
No teams win a grand final without superstars. Except for maybe penrith early sometime in the 2000's.

Reminds me in '02 when we beat Melbourne in a really ugly encounter, we lost several players and had no bench 25 or so mins into the 1st half, I even heard a rumour Peter Cusack refused to go to hospital and played on otherwise we were down to 12.
After the game in the presser they asked Stuart about how he felt about the win and the 80min effort the boys put in, he shrugged his shoulders an said something along the lines that all my players are expected to put in 80mins when required.
The next game against Mel was worse I think we got belted 48-10. BTW good win last night boys.

Even when Bennett was at Newcastle he had Buderus, Gidley, Mullen, Tahu, McManus, Uate, Darius Boyd, Beau Scott, Gagai, Sims, Mason, Leilua, Costigan, Mata'utia, Cuthbertson, Rochow, Jeremy Smith, etc....
I reckon Robbo is an exceptionally good coach and I hope they keep him around this joint for a long, long time.....Last edited by HEGtheROOSTER; 04-10-2016, 08:37 AM.

The attitude was there and we were much hungrier. I was REALLY happy with it. IMO we've clearly been working on getting the basics right... solid defence, converting tries and sealing the game out with a drop goal. Kept it simple, spirited effort, and we've woken up this morning with 2 points on the board.

All Robbo got was was Maloney, SBW, Jennings and a pair of oldies from Super League. Tahu, Gagai, Boyd, Scott, Gidley, Costigan...etc really should have won a premiership.

Bennett went for the quick fix, signed a number of aging stars with no thought for the long term future of Newcastle and then we he realised he had bitten off more than he could chew he ran home to Brisbane

I heard the commentators saying how brave & good it was that Sammy boy hadn't been replaced & then to watch Napa rip Sammy boy a new arse hole & play 80 himself was magnificent. I cant wait to see JWH & Napa put the fear in all those teams that think they are going to win the comp. I hope the Roosters are at full strength when they play Parra.
