I was hoping that I was wrong but watching Jennings at Parra I've realised that we would have been better off paying whatever he wanted & set Fergo loose. He still leaves SKD alone out there & his handling is bloody terrible.

I reckon we let the wrong centre go last season..

I reckon Jennings looked disinterested and was over it last season. He's a rolling stone imo. Changing clubs keeps him stimulated.
Our halves are struggling. Weapons like Fergo need good clean early ball which currently is non existent. He looks mentally engaged though.

He did tear us a new one though in 2012........

Fergo has been a bit off lately but seriously you must have been watching a different Jennings to me the last few weeks, he's been pedestrian at best. This is the recruitment/retention decision i think the club actually got right. Jennings would have been on $700k with us this year, back ended contract, **** THAT.

I'd rather throw silly money at an influential prop or second rower such as JWH or SBW. If there is anywhere you can save money, it should be wing/centers. The spine and forward pack should be where money is prioritised (albeit, we haven't really managed that ideally).

Once (a while back) a rubbish boss held me back because I was offered a promotion above him (and due to a stupid technicality he had to 'release' me... so spitefully said 'for operational reasons he needs to stay here'). I've moved on since then, but needless to say, he copped it for the next 6 months and was made to regreat that decision severely. Rather than being a star employee, I worked to the letter, refused to do overtime, and made sure that seek.com.au was open every time he entered my bay. When he was on holidays, I got an offer to move sideways and got his replacement to sign a permanent transfer ASAP. He got back from is holiday, saw I'd packed up and was like 'noooooo' because he didn't back a number of other team members (who were perfectly competent). Truth is, he was MUCH better off without me because I resented being forced to stay.
So Jenko? I'm pretty sure he was sick of driving to Bondi every day to play for a team where he'd achieved everything he wanted to. Forcing him to stay just for his skills woulda been ludicrous. He woulda switched the 'auto-pilot' button on and done enough not to get sacked, but significantly less than he's capable of.
The real question is... who is the best fit for our team? Hands down, I'd pick Fergo. I mean... would Jenko have volunteered to play FB? Hell no. Everybody looks rubbish at the moment (particularly outside backs) because we are getting cricket scores against us every week. I mean... should we have kept Linnet, Takairangi and BJ because their teams are carving up right now? Would they have prevented the cricket scores we're copping? Hell no... they are all ordinary at best. Fergo's Origin-grade, he's reformed, he's cheap and he's willing to do anything to fit in with the boys. What more could you want FFS?Last edited by ism22; 03-22-2016, 05:09 PM.

How many times this year has the opposition gotten on the outside of our centres to create an overlap?
I bet it is more than the total number of times it happened to Jennings during his entire three years at the roosters.

Jenko has not set the world on fire at Parra. Unsighted for first 2 rounds and then only fell over the line on Friday due to Semi's brilliance. He's done nothing of note. Parra can have him and pay his $600K+ salary.
Having said that, Ferguson has been very disappointing this year. It seems he's taken on Jennings' 'disinterested' attitude. You'd think he and SKD have never played together given how useless they've been in defence. Little wonder the opposition is targeting their side, when you add young Niko to the mix.
Ferguson needs to pull his finger out and actually motivate himself to get involved. Something he's not doing at the moment.Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

I totally like them both. The Roosters had the 2 most potent centres in the game last year. They have been the best 2 centres at the Roosters at the same time in 45 years IMO better than Harris & Brass.
After losing RTS, Maloney & Matagi & knowing they were going to play Fergusson at FB they should never have let Jennings go even if it cost the full 700 thousand for his final season. God only knows how much the Roosters are paying of Jennings contract at Parra but with having 600k just sitting there they should have used part of that on him right now & not worry about what Hayne or SBW are doing in the future.

I've never been Ferguson's number 1 fan around here, but I doubt letting him go would have given us a shot at keeping Jennings. Jenko's contract was way more than what Ferguson would be on now (although I'd wager Ferguson has been bumped up to quite a substantial amount this year).
I'd have preferred we let both of them go and kept RTS. Could then have played SKD and Copley/Elliott in the centres and leave the wings for Mitchell and Burgess/Toops, with the view of developing Mitchell into a centre all Inglis.
Once RTS and Maloney went though, then keeping Ferugon over Jennings made sense as we'd need to start trying to pool some cap space to buy some replacements
