We have to leave him in the halves until Pearce comes back. I am not a fan of playing players out of position. Granted he played some FB as a schoolboy but he is a natural half or back up rake/half for now.

With Maloney and RTS (he could have handled 5/8th in an emergency) gone, the cupboard is bare for back up halves. Cornish is not up to FG standard defensively.

I for one cannot wait for Pearce to get back so Niko can play off the bench and I reckon he may be destructive off the bench especially after his baptism of fire. I am no big fan of Pearce but his larger, stronger body and fitness plus a solid game for club football e.g. kicking and organisational skills is needed by us to start to right the ship.

I think Niko will shred playing off the bench when we are at full strength.

He's a crafty little farker. He can sit back and look for the weak links to exploit when he comes on.

Interesting to hear Peter Tunks on talking sport questioning Jackson Hastings playing ability over the last few weeks.
He said Jackson is too steady and needs to start playing some footy.
Still a little early to be hard on the kid, talk about pressure..

I keep seeing people on here posting that he's carrying an injury. If that's the case, I feel for the guy. He's a young kid, thrown in to the deep end, expected to lead a team around the paddock after 22 first grade games and he's not at 100%. Massive ask!

I don't have that much sympathy. IMO the 'Hastings' name bought him a full-time gig in our halves, much earlier than he would have gotten it elsewhere. Not saying talent/potential wasn't 90% of it... but he forced Maloney to look elsewhere.

IMO we coulda signed Maloney for another 3 years, used Hastings as bench utility during that time (still earning $250k+ a year as a kiddo) and it still woulda been a good deal for Jacko.

IMO letting Maloney go when he wanted to stay was a MASSIVE call. He's a gun kicker and a quality character (a larrikin but also a family man with clear priorities in life).

I look forward to being corrected when the current bunch come good. I guess how long that takes is part of the excitement...

We can move Mitchell into the wing/centre next to SKD to fill up the space Copley has left.
Mate go & take your medication. Midgets dont play FB in the NRL.
