Some Good News Roosters Are Chasing Valentine Holmes

I guess Holmes has experience playing first grade though. And naturally prefers fb despite not getting a run there. I agree though. Latrell is a very big boy and is the long term fb. I think our team is stronger him playing there with fergo in the centres and Copley dropped. I'd keep skd in the centres and have joeb the other wing. That's a much more potent backline then yesterday's. You need strike in both centre positions.

I understand him. He did the same with RTS. What if he did put Latrell straight in at FB and he had a shocker. Dropped bomb after bomb. He is only a kid. He loses all confidence and every week teams bomb the he'll out of him. Supporters are all over him. This forum explodes about how craps he is.Originally posted by eddie View Post
I don't understand Robbo on that one.
Either Mitchell is a fullback or he ain't. You'd think he'd improve quicker playing his right position, and wingers are specialists themselves.
Holmes has virtually no games as a fullback in top grade as well.
Robbo wants him to get FG experience. Toughen him up both mentally and physically. Then move him to fb, where if he has a shocker early on he will hopefully be able to cope with it better.
The model to use is the one with RTS. It worked perfectly.
As much as I want to see Mitchell at fb so Fergo can play centre, I applaud Robbo for his patience. He is doing it in the best interests of the kid.Embrace the Hate! JC

I know you know your footy, but I disagree emphatically with this.Originally posted by John Corey View Post

.
RTS was alwys gonna be fullback, he started first grade on the wing because Mini hadn't retired yet.
Currently we have no first grade fullback , it's a different situation.
Rugby league is a tough game. If Mitchell falls to pieces because he makes a few mistakes we'll know he ain't cut out to be an nrl player. Teaching him how to function as a winger doesn't seem to have any long term benefits.
Add the fact that Fergo will only be a stop gap fullback, appears all at sea with the role, and his absence from the 3/4 line weakens our side further.
