If anyone filmed such an event at mad Monday at the end of the season, most people would laugh it off. Here in is part of the double standards. As pearce was in a private place, his major indiscretion was breaching Roosters, instructions. The penalty should have been a Rooster issue , not NRL. The fine is I believe acceptable, maybe it should be stated as 10%of the players salary so it is definitively benchmarked. The 8 games whilst excessive ,at least maybe sufficiently harsh so without alcohol we yet get the best out of Mitchells ability for the remainder of the season. I am always surprised how in the past 2 seasons the players put themselves on an alcohol bans, presumably because they know their performance improves.

In the nfl they get fined for on field acts. Late rough contact on a QB can result in a 100+k fine haha. This is ridiculous though. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall during this discussion to hear the NRLs rationale for the decision.

Pearce's incident definitely brought the game into disrepute more than a bit of push and shove outside a nightclub in the States.
You can argue that is because of the media scrutiny / beat-up, but the Pearce incident damaged the NRL brand more IMO...
the charges were dropped as souffs paid the victims

I am perplexed with this ruling on Pearce by the NRL - a over reaction perhaps due to the advent of social media grandstanding ? Is it a sign of the times ? There is more to this fine and ban. I would not be surprised the club or Pearce take it further via defamation by the person who sold the video and also with the media outlets. It will drag on for years. 2016 will also be another season of bias by match officials as it has become the culture within the NRL and referee board playing on the hard done by lesser than mentality socio demographic hang up about eastern suburb$ and nick politi$

Pearce's drunken indiscretions versus Robert lui versus Greg bird, versus Aaron Gray and Dylan walker versus Sutton and burgess versus Todd Carney versus Blake Ferguson versus valentine Holmes versus Ben barba versus api korisau.
Its the lack of consistency and no obvious rationale for decision making that people are outraged by.
