  • Napa banned from Origin this year Copley helped cover up the night out

seems Copley can find himself at the wrong place at the wrong time, firstly at the Pearce incident and then he helped smuggle some of the drunk QLD emerging Origin players back into their hotel after they broke curfew.

one positive though is it sounds like he learned from the Pearce incident and was sober on the night in question.

disappointed to hear that only days after the Pearce incident Napa thought it was a good idea to get drunk and break curfew, certainly not the crime of the century but continues a worrying trend of our players not taking instruction well.

      Pretty happy about that tbh.

Napa was very likely to play this year.

Now if only Cordner would do the same in the Blues camp.

Bit harsh to point the finger at Copley, isn't it? Is he supposed to dob the blokes in? And hard to blame him for being in the company of his captain at his new club on Australia Day?

I think copley did the right thing, picking them up so they dont get into any more trouble. Better than them getting into an altercation with a cab driver and getting arrested like Holmes.

not really was given a taxi voucher by a roosters official and told to go home, ignored a club directive and linked up with Pearce/Nikorima and a few others and went out and continued to party.

same deal in the QLD camp, players had a night out were told to be back in their hotel room by a certain time and once again he wasn't.

neither is the crime of the century and certainly nanny state like, but it shows a pattern of ignoring authority.

lets face it our club has a discipline issue, is a lot of it horrific in nature, absolutely not but for some reason our players like to ignore authority figures and club directives.

I actually thought Napa would have played, his form at the end of last season was exceptional, good thing for us is now he won't be away during origin time.

I agree with what you are saying. In isolation they are very minor offences but would seem to be indicative of a greater problem. For years I have never been able to understand what I perceive as a lack of self discipline and drive in many NRL players that athletes in other professions demonstrate. Is it because they lack formal education? Is is because they think they have already made it by being in/near an NRL squad. Is it because at the end of the day most NRL players are bogans with low IQs and no understanding of the world?

What is so interesting about getting drunk? Yes we know they are young and keen to experience things life has to offer. But really I think it is indicative of a greater problem with the youth of Australia. NRL players seems to feel they are missing out on their youths. Isn't being a professional NRL player more exciting than doing a few lines or shots or whatever? Do you need drugs and alcohol to bang a lot of chicks? I don't get it.

Maybe if Scott, Myles, Thaiday, Gillette, Parker, Guerra...etc are injured.

I agree he's good, but I think because QLD and Australia have been so consistent they don't mess with dad's army.

It never ceases to amaze how dumb league players really are. Dumb and dumber

what I don't get is these guys partake in all kinds of radical specially designed diets for elite athletes, but yet at any chance they get they go and write themselves off on a drinking binge which would actually be worse for recovery for their bodies than indulging in a feast of KFC/Maccas etc.

I'm all for the boys going out and having a few beers when their playing/training schedules allow, but its almost like they forget they are meant to be professional athletes once they start downing a few beers.

lol reminds me of a member of my extended family. She is obsessed with her looks and weight yet downs a bottle of champagne every night and does not understand that it more or less cancels out whatever good things she has done. If there is also a drug culture at the club can you imagine the effects it would be having on the player's conditioning? Why don't these guys want to make sacrifices to be the best?

You realise Cordner will be back by about round 8 right?

There's still a month until the season starts.
