it mightn't be our decision though, hard to see how the NRL won't deregister his contract for at least a year.
If it's rehab then the guy's possibly thinking of suicide...etc and needs out of Australia.
Not saying that makes his behaviour right, but pretty sure it's for his own safety and has fark all to do with the club or the NRL.
Again not excusing him, but the guy who sold the story to the media was a douchebag, and the media should have had better taste than to air it. Bad image, but channel 9 are all too quick to show it off in order to get higher viewer ratings. They love it!
Meh at first I called for his sacking but now I'm more like meh... the guy has already had his punishment. Stupid thing to do but it has blown outta proportion.
Pearce will be back, don't you worry about it!!! Greg Bird and Greg Inglis beat up their respective Mrs' and they are still playing footy! Pearce hasn't been charged with anything... like Carney, if he's sacked then he could possibly sue the NRL for unfair dismissal. Bet they're scared shyteless after Carney. No criminal charges and no harm done to the NRL (just Pearce). The sponsors (channel 9 and fox) are lickin' their fingers all the way to the bank after this story. No harm done... Pearce will be BACK!!
I suppose the IU are looking for reasons not to be done with him, considering the damage it's done to the precious NRL image. However, if he's in a facility abroad, it might make it easier for them to just utilise the player welfare aspect and suspend him "while he seeks help". Let's hope it's not NRL and Club both waiting for the other to make the first move.
Pity it had to all come down to a donut guy initiating what should have been done already, but on and up, as he deals with the situation he's created. What is reasonable action? will obviously differ amongst us onlookers. I would've personally offered to stand down for the season, (can't say i would've confronted the bosses and said ok i sack myself), and considering who we're talking about, and his lack of.. a lot of things... the relatively swift written apology and flight to overseas treatment might be what he believes is an entirely appropriate reaction by him. Who knows... yet.
Roosters obviously want him to stay part of the club, and it's in Mitchell's best interest in regards to further bans that may be dealt if he is off rehabilitating himself now. The Roosters aren't stupid
The Todd Carney situation has made this a lot harder for the NRL to get rid of him.
I just really hope the bloke gets the help he needs and matures into a better man, friend, and clubman for the Roosters.
Always been a fan of his but his attrocious behaviour stops now.
Massive error from our Club,as much as I love the RWB I must admit I have lost some respect for the powers at hand.
Pearce himself admitted today he and the Club are working through a recovery program, meaning it is a Club decision.
So deflating and upsetting as a true supporter of this great Club 😔
Clever move by Pearce, makes it pretty much impossible to be drug tested now. They won't find him. Can't cop talk of a 12 month suspension. So we basically get someone to replace him and tell them thanks now go fark when he has served his suspension. If it is bad enough to be suspended for 12 months then surely it warrants sacking him.
the media should have had better taste than to air it. Bad image, but channel 9 are all too quick to show it off in order to get higher viewer ratings. They love it!
They all love dishing a dose of tall poppy. Fill up those editorial inches and programming slots.
The hypocrisy from all angles.. the NRL, media leeches, and all the moral activists on social media... who react so vehemently to a slurring waffling drunk, yet turn a blind eye to far worse.
