the NRL released a statement about an hour ago saying they are in possession of a series of further text messages and are currently investigating.

I'm a little more worried about the illicit substance side of the story than I was this afternoon, because the text messages that were publicly released had all the correct names for the girl that threw Pearce out of her apartment and the guy who filmed the incident.

the text messages were released well before the names were made public.

fingers crossed there is nothing too it but I'm sure there would be a few more Roosters players a little nervous about what the NRL investigation will turn up.

what's to say this Jack guy that filmed the incident doesn't make another cash grab with a newspaper and starts throwing allegations of drug use by Roosters players, the state Pearce was in he is hardly going to be able to defend these allegations.

I am digressing from the teams line-up but the text messages could be the stage 2 of their devious plan. Yes it probably proves the authenticity of the people who sent the sms to eachother being the people at the house party. However, unless they can provide more concrete proof of drug useage then it is a baseless claim then unless irrefutable proof turns up via another way, then all those text messages are baseless claims.

If they are in fact baseless claims I would think that Uncle Nick would think money is no object to unleash his legal eagles on these people or any media outlets who try to suggest that it is more than rumour or innuendo unless there is concrete proof.
