Having had a chilled Birthday i have settled down and realised that whilst i had seen this coming for a longtime, this young man has a serious problem and needs to be helped quick smart or he will fall off the edge for good.
What he did and some of the things he has done in the past, alot that hasnt been revealed is an indication of just how troubled he has been for a long time.
What is sad is that this smells of Andrew Johns and his sad state of affairs minus the ability.
Pearce has been let down badly by his mates, team mates, The Club, NRL and more importantly his family.
Where was this support network? Surely they knew of this problem with his drinking, especially his binge drinking and dramas he has had.
These people are all guilty of either not giving a shit, accepting this behaviour as ok or covering up these dramas.
Now here we are with this blokes life and career at the crossroads because no one had the kahunas to say enough is enough.
I have been to club functions where Pearce has been exceptional where no alcohol was consumed, he was terrific with kids and fans alike, i have also been to functions where he carried on like a pork chop and only had eyes for the grog and woman, everyone else could get farked including sponsors.
There are many a " great guy " in prison for assault, murder, domestic violance and other dispicable acts due to binge drinking and alcohol problems, he is very lucky he has stopped short of that and i do not wish that upon anyone.
We all i know i do not rate the guy as a footballer as i have always been of the opinion he has been gifted his position at the club at others expense, this i believe has also contributed to his " i'm untouchable" attitude.
However this goes way beyond rugby league, i fear for his mental state at the moment, he needs time off, alot of time off, he needs the club and family to get around him, he needs his contract torn up so he can realise just how good he had it, offer him a lifelong of possible re-instatement under strict conditions with no specific time frame and if he does come good, he starts at Wyong and earns his spot back in first grade.
