A fine man and a good player whose form this year, along with a lot of others, Myles included, has been a bit below par.

No way would we have made the 2010 Grand Final without his cool, calm leadership on the field.
No way would we have beaten Souths this year without him...look how many superb kicks for goal he made.

Then there was that field goal.
But look how invloved he was in the plays before that.

Oh captain Anasta, look how well you played against the Panthers!
    Lovely try.
    Lovely passes to Mini etc.

Down for the count, the captain scores against the Tigers!
    Oh go the captain!.

Wow you've showed the couple of good things Anasta has done in his entire career at the Roosters.

Carney was responsible for getting us back into the game against the tigers, sure Anasta's field goal was good but it was the individual brilliance of Carney that got usd to the point where Cap Burglar had to kick the field goal - despite Anasta nearly dropping the ball over the line for our first try.

Guy is an overpaid, underachieving hack who has a heart the size of a pea. Braith's #1 priority is Braith, the club and everything comes a close second.

As a football player he makes a great media whore.

It's a big part of why we made the Grand Final.

Obviously those paying him haven't thought him overpaid.
This season and beyond, new coach...certain players who are older and don't fit the plans could be moved on...doesn't mean to say he hasn't been a good player.
He's one player...you might wanna look at all the others who haven't performed well in every game, ifya wanna be looking for players to blame for the spoon and the years before that.
        The coaches for a start.

The players who give away dumb penalties all the time, drop the ball, throw stupid passes etc.

LOL sorry man. You are so optimistic I thought you had to be a kid. Any relation to Forrest Gump? Just farking with you dude.

Anasta played his part in last year's success. No question about it. Mini also was once regarded as the world's best player. Things change champ. Anasta is yesterday hero (briefly). The 2011 model clearly has no heart, no soul and should be released to France ASAP.

Even if he tried his best I just can't see how he fits into our team in any way. Compare his football smarts and kicking game to someone like Lockyer. It is embarrassing. He is no longer good enough to play 5/8.

As a second-rower I don't think he is in the top 25 players at the club. Just my opinion but I think he is an overpaid princess. He has fooled many, including myself at various times throughout his career. For mine he just is not good enough. Particularly so when you think of the money he has earnt over the years.
I agree he has little place in our team anymore, but the amount of hate thats been targeted at him has been unwarranted. It'll be the right decision to let him go after this year though.

I don't understand how Anasta gets all the criticism for our poor form this year while the real culprit, piss pot Carney, gets little or no criticism.

Our season would probably have been totally different if the piss pot hadn't gone off the rails and decided that drinking was more important than his footy club - not for the first time. The bloke who caused unrest in the ranks when he couldn't be asked to travel to Gosford to watch his teammates but found the time to go out for a night on the tiles with Watts.

You don't reckon his drinking didn't affect the rehab and recovery of his groin injury - think again.

Supporters whinge about Anasta getting money for nothing. At least he's making it onto the field. Unlike the pisspot, who's been getting paid big bucks to attend court, counselling and rehab rather than footy training.

It's very harsh on Anasta to call him the biggest salary cap thief ever at the Roosters - given the duds we've bought over the years and who have done far less for the club than Anasta has. The Wanka and Vaughtin just to name two.

Some supporters on here have very short, not to mention selective, memories.

Lockyer is a rarity...same as Langer and Fittler.

If Anasta is now not as good as other forwards in the club, and not as good as Carney to play 5/8, then wish him well as you wave him goodbye.
He's played a lot better and given more to the club than many other players over the years.

Mate you make some excellent points. Carney has largely escaped criticism and there is no doubt he contributed significantly to our disastrous season. However, the difference for me is that Carney is a brilliant player and Anasta is nothing.

He has heart, and soul...[he's not the one in trouble all the time, despite having worries off the field].
We had a great year last year, and he played a huge part in that, calming the 'hot-heads' and 'waywards' on the field, for one.

This year is not so good, with a myriad of things going wrong.
If he doesn't fit our plans for the future, and other players are better, then so be it and he has to move on.
Doesn't mean he hasn't been a good player for us over the years.
He's one player...the others aren't all perfect either.

I think a good way of thinking about it is to imagine in a few years anybody reminiscing about Braith Anasta. Previous captains like Fitzy and Fitler ellicit passionate and proud memories. I can't forsee anybody saying in a few years: "oh so your a Rooster fan. Remember Braith Anasta and his 5 years as Captain. Those were the days. Wish he was still playing".
Anasta will be most likely used as a trivia quiz question. "Who captained Easts btw 2008-2011? You can have a free vowel. A-A--A. Hr started as a 5/8th and ended as a reserve 2nd row.?

There is also another difference for you to acknowledge:

Braith Anasta cares a great deal about our club, its players, its sponors and supporters. He has done nothing to damage its image and reputation.

Todd Carney doesn't have a rats about our club, its players, its sponsors and supporters. He only cares about himself and more often than not where his next drink is coming from. He thinks nothing of trashing the club's image and reputation.

Carney may be a brilliant player, but that will mean nothing if he's continues to run off the rails because the only team he will be playing for is a corrective services one.

When players run to the media crying about not being offered a contract and then make comments suggesting the clubs season could be jeopardized if it doesn't happen then they deserve to be absolutely pilloried and torn apart when they put in so little effort.. The way he carried on was an absolute disgrace...

yes it certainly looked like that. But it was in fact his manager talking to the media and the media quoting it as if it came from Anasta.
