  • We Need Tackling Machines

    This is the forward pack of the future

    Front Row - Martin Kennedy
    Hooker - Jake Friend
    Front Row - Lama Tasi
    2nd Row - BJ Leilua
    2nd Row - Tackling Machine (Buy)
    Lock - Tackling Machine (Buy)

    Reserves - JWH, Mose, Arona, Maubs.

    In short, we have enough yardage men (Kennedy, Tasi), we have enough bench impact (Mose, JWH) and we have some forward attack (Maubs, Arona). We only have one tackling machine which unfortunately for us is our hooker, Jake Friend. Which two tackling machines are we going to buy? In my dreams Gallen and Parker.

    But realistically?

    This would be my ideal forward pack:

    8. Woods/Fifita/McGuire
    9. Friend
    10. Kennedy
    11. Bolton
    12. Aubusson
    13. Symonds

    14. Tasi
    15. Masoe
    16. Arona
    17. Shaun Johnson (utility back)

    18. Goodwin
    19. Cherrington
    20. Cordner

      Goodwin is a tackling machine in NYC. A big step up to NRL but has the potential. Incredible stats.

        I think he needs to spend a few years at Newtown first. No need to rush him.

          1. Gardner
          2. Linnett
          3. Leilua
          4. Kenny-Dowall
          5. Perrett
          6. Carney
          7. Pearce (c)
          8. Gibbs
          9. Friend
          10. Kennedy
          11. Aubusson
          12. Symonds
          13. Lillyman

          14. Nuuausala/Arona/Cherrington/Mitchell
          15. Ryles
          16. Warea-Hargreaves
          17. Tasi

          Depending on how he goes for the remainder of the year, id be inclined to give ryles 1 more year for his experience and steadying influence on our young pack. Tasi is absolute dynamite. fantastic work ethic and plenty of impact and enforcement about his play - a main stay on the bench for sure and imo, beats masoe to the impact prop spot.

          Lillyman is an excellent workhorse prop/backrower who has once again origin selection. Would definitely not break the bank but would give us flexibility. Imo Gibbs is a very similar sort of player to myles and will ensure we dont lose the leadership, tackling and work of myles around the middle - he can fill his void for not quite as much of a cost.

          In short:
          Miniciello --> Gardner
          Graham --> A. Graham
          Myles --> Gibbs
          Anasta --> Lillyman
          Watts --> A. Mitchell
          Other omissions - Riddell

            We need to stop dropping the ball, losing it in tackles, throwing stupid passes, and giving away dumb penalties...so we don't have to make as many tackles in matches.

                Good pack... I also like Bryce Gibbs, has a good motor.. no 15 minute stints followed by collapsing in a coma.

                  Thanks!

                  If Gibbs can control himself, then he could be an option. Big question mark for me though. Great player, but god his penalties kill my love for him! LOL!

                      I agree with the proposition that we need two tackling machines in our backrow(we never really replaced Ricko and Fitzy)Maubs certainly does not fulfil the role as a lot of us had expected he could. If we were to go down this route it would also help Jake out with the defence and hopefully he would have more energy in attack. The question is who is available and the list above is extensive but I'm not sure how up to date it is.

                      It contains a few players I think could seriously fill the role of tackling machine imho

                      Lillyman been outstanding no fluke he is in SOO
                      Galuvao getting on so would be a short term option but has been outstanding better than Myles in attack and defence this year
                      Fulton
                      Nathan Smith
                      Todd Lowrie
                      Waterhouse
                      Warburton
                      Hilder maybe available

                        Don't for one minute think I doubt you Buddy, but "tackling machine" and NYC just don't seem right in the same sentence

                            Liilyman is the only one on that list that appeals. And now he is SOO does the price-tag get too rich?

                            Gibbs has got a good motor but the lack of discipline? we already have that in spades.

                            Would love a Stagg or Dallas Johnson.
