Its an interesting thing, I guess I still have hope that Smith is the one and will turn it around.
Its getting more delusional but I do have some questions.

Seems to me there is something wrong on the field. The effort is not really there at times and to me the structure is not good enough.
I don't think its because the players are not up to it physically.
If its the coach or the assistant coaches, the players still should show alot more pride than they are now.

My impression is there are arses to be kicked and its not being done.

I thought things would be different with Smith who has a truckload more maturity than Fittler, but it seems there is a lack of accountability and strength.

Thats all Im asking Nick to do. Stop protecting the arses that need booting out. Smith aint one of them at this point in time.

Nick, do what you know yo have to. Allow teh obvious to be done. Stop protecting mates, and start putting the sponsors and fans first.

Personally, I would go for one of either gus, bennett, bellamy or hasler. Proven winners and also very hands on.

Fred, I like you but the only person missing from that list was Alex Ferguson... Maybe a list of coaches that would actually come to the Roosters.... Bennett would not have come, Bellamy would not walk away from Melbourne mid-contract... His paymasters would never allow him to jump ship to the Roosters, they stopped Bennett previously. Gus had years with an open chequebook and couldn't get us to a Grand Final.. He has his flaws too, you think Smith plays favourites, Gus is just as bad if not worse.. Hasler is interesting I grant you.

I find all this slightly depressing but it gives me a reality check such that I'm now mentally preparing for the spoon this year and for more in coming years. After last year's disappointment/travesty in the GF, I thought the team would build on their form and come into 2011 a more consistent and motivated side with a real shot of going one better. It seems I MUST invert my expectations to the extreme lest I dash myself against the rocks of unfulfilled dreams.

And how long will the wonderful Steggles stick around and have their name dragged through the shit that this team/coach/club are delivering? The talking may turn into a shout at that stage ...

tbh, the roosters have always been a fertile breeding ground for scurrilous rumours. There's always something going around, especially some that are dusted off and revived from time to time. Sometimes even stuff that has happened at other clubs or even other sports have found a home at Bondi. I wouldn't get too worked up about it.
