I suspect it means speculation based on media snippets - which is completely appropriate for a forum like this but let's not pretend it is something it's not.

Thats exactly right. There's even more to it but its not appropriate to divulge more. Smith wont do anything about it because he just doesnt care enough. When the players see that the head coach doesnt care that 1 million per cent that he should be, then they lose focus and it only takes 1% or 2% difference in their attitude and it then becomes a downhill spiral.
