    11. Cordner
    12. SST
    13. Liu

    I'd be happy with that.
If Evans can keep his agility and pace, I'd prefer to see SST at lock with Evans in the second row. I think he'd be an absolute weapon in attack on the edge with his size, relative speed, long arms and ability to bend the line. Imagine him drawing the half, centre and second rower in a tackle just as he gets an offload away to Jennings or Fergo....

That's fine but none of that addresses the fact that you think Cordner offers nothing in this regard. The ability to be influential isn't mutually exclusive.

Evans struggles to defend in a far more congested middle third, he'd get exposed big time on the fringes.

Moving mobile props to the edges is my pet hate, shortly followed by moving out and out wingers to fullback. History shows the failure rate is so much greater than the odd success story here or there.

Sonnys influence off and on the field was massive no doubt. But I wouldn't be giving a large portion of cap space to a player largely for off field influence. That's what our support staff and team culture provide. It's also everyone's responsibility. Signing sonny for 1-2 years at the expense of a 23-24 year old rep player is very short sighted.

I think that's a little harsh on Evans. He's still finding his place in this team. I'm undecided on where I'd like to see him though. Depends on how much he fills out but he certainly has some ball skills which we are lacking around the middle.

Evans may well play for NSW next year. He's an outstanding talent and what he offers is the sort of impact that few, if any, others clubs have the luxury of off the bench.

And lucky for us Easts has plenty of influential players since Robbo and Sonny arrived.. They have changed the fabric!

Total Rubbish.. This is talk of Evans 2 years ago, Kanes game is very complete and wouldn't look out of place on our edges. The problem is our edges are some of the best in the world.

Might be harsh but it's true, his lateral movement is shit. It's the one thing that's held him back from playing more First Grade. Take him out of the more congested middle third and move him out to an edge and he will be found out big time.

It also takes away from one of his strengths, his hitting power. He's one of the sweetest hitters in the comp and a huge part of our intimidation factor coming off the bench. There's no room for error on the edges, try to pull a big hit off and fail and it's a linebreak to the opposition. Try to pull off a big hit in the middle and there's generally a guy on either shoulder to back you up if you miss.

Evans had a great year this year, his defence improved ten fold, his yardage was excellent and the timing in some of his shots is as good as any in the league. The exciting part is that we haven't even seen the best of him yet. He's got excellent endurance as we saw when he was playing 80 minute games in the 20's and 70+ minute games for the Jets. But he is an out and out prop every day of the week. The temptation to move him because he's so mobile and skillful for a big guy is misguided. The game is still 50% defence and 50% attack, nothing has changed.

I thought it was the second tier cap that kept him out of firsts.. Although you're right he is going to be a prop. He just needs to fill out a little more, which he will. Looking forward to Evans development as much as anything else this year for the roosters. He's going to be an out and out star.

I agree on that, I've enjoyed watching his development right from his 20's days, there's something special there.

In the same way new signings can bring a certain buzz around a club I think there's a really good buzz around our club in anticipation for the development of some existing players who are now on the verge of taking the next big steps in their career, Kane Evans, Jackson Hastings, Latrell Mitchell & Joey Manu all scream special talents.

                            Indeed.

Watching players rise through the ranks is always exciting to watch, the satisfaction of seeing some of them reach their potential is awesome.

Given our squad is relatively young but experienced will really help the younger guys IMO.

All teams need fresh blood and rookies on the rise to win premierships, after speaking with Kane on a few occasions during his transition to NRL showed he needed the confidence first.
