I'm sure if the club wants him to stay they will get him (As long as he doesn't want some outrageous amount ) as it's been mentioned you would think there are a few players the club would let go of before Cords.

Manly are obviously back ending heavily into 2018 when the cap will rise around 3.5 mil. Add to that the fact that Lyon Stewart and Matai will all likely have retired freeing up about another 1.3 that's how they are renovating as extensively as they are.we will back end to keep Boyd.

Chooks dont back end contracts .Thats why we cut players or let go .Back ending is the dumbest thing a club can do ..........see through recent history- Parra ,Canberra ,Tigers . Manly , Melbourne ,

How can we offer him that with our roster?

The NRL wont register front loaded or back loaded contracts, haven't for a couple years now.

It's nothing but a forum myth now.

It'd be interesting to see how DCE lifetime contract is structured.

He is a great player and all but he isn't a $750K player without any real second phase ball playing ability, unless the cap rises 60%. You cannot overpay for backrowers etc. They aren't the guys that win you a comp unless you are a freak like SBW.

He'd have a percentage clause written into his contract undoubtedly, i.e if the salary cap goes up 25% so does his salary. Along with KPI bonuses such as making rep teams.

Not allowing back ended contracts isn't the same as not allowing contracts to increase.

It's the Mark Gasnier 2010 contract that the game never wants to see again.

They won't register such contracts if it means that the club is projected to breach the cap if all current contracts are honoured. That is, you can't say "oh, we'll cut a few contracted players in 2018 to make room".
