    Interesting!

A 6pm start on a Friday night will definitely effect crowd numbers.

Agree. Would certainly effect viewing numbers too as many people aren't even home from work. What a ****ing joke the broncos get their standard Friday night games. A massive advantage to the players and financially for the club.

        They are carnts. Greedy carnts.

A city of 2 million and they won't share it with another team. Half of Brisbane hates the Broncos and are chomping at the bit for a 2nd side.

        Dirty greedy farking carnts.

I blame the nrl for letting it happen. Brisbane are just doing what any team would do. I'd love every Friday night game.

Can anyone give one good reason for the NRL to have a game on at 6.00pm on a Friday?

It allows 2 live games on a Friday night rather than a live and delayed broadcast. Still a stupid idea.

Then they complain that we buy all out players, and refuse to (for example) include kids (signed as kids) from suburbs other than Bondi as locally developed players.

I always have to point out that they have a whole ciry + surrounding towns/cities catchment area, and that very few (if any) of their players grew up living next to Suncorp.

They don't seem to be able to visualise cities with multiple clubs, where the closest cities (Newcastle and Wollongong) have their own clubs/feeders. Instead of just getting EVERY junior within a 300km radius we have to pour loads of cash into identifying potential QUICKLY and getting untested/unproven kids to choose us. This isn't 'putting no work into player development', it's one of the most sophisticated development programs in the country.

What else can the NRL do to **** this sport up? Great idea morons.

                    Purely for TV I think.

Great post ism, just highlighted this sentence to say that it only applies to the younger bronco pty ltd fans who grew up with them and their courier mail propaganda.
Like postcode pointed out, half of Brisbane seems to hate them. That's because they killed the local comp.
If the telegraph created a team called the Sydney Rhinos or something, I couldn't picture myself cheering for them alongside canterbury fans.
                      Maybe that's what hell is.

Fantastic idea, 6pm will be a good time slot for games with typically low crowd attendances and allow people in all states and countries to watch both games on tv at a reasonable hour..

Doesnt the nrl control the scheduling under the next tv deal? Not sure they will be as keen to give broncs prime time each week as 9 is. The other clubs will raise holy hell and rightly so if the nrl were so blatently biased.

9 can get away with it but the nrl hq wont be able to. Which is why its iimperative that the nrl gained scheduling control moving forward.
Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

From 2018 channel 9 gets 4 games, Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday, Im not sure what the arrangements are for 2016 other than what you have proposed, I would think things would remain the same until the new deal comes in, which is 2018.

A lot of people are at the pub on Friday drinks. You can also say that the NRL want to get these people to the games because by the time the 8pm game starts, many drinkers are home and not willing or able to travel to a game. Believe it or not, I'm sure the strategy has been studied well...doesn't mean it will work, but at least they have a strategy.
