I haven't noticed anyone on here fearing Surgi's return to the NRL or sweating about the team the lols might field in 2016. Just a few (me included) looking for some answers is all...

Second group - little over a million
JWH - $400k
Cords - $400k
Guerra - $350k
I've probably been a little too ambitious and under-estimated some of those salaries, but I reckon we could get at least 4 quality players for the price of Burgess (including at least 2 internationals that play for Australia or NZ). $1.5 million is way too much for 1 player when the cap is only $5.5 million.
What was mentioned above was that the salary cap auditor wants burgess to be on a minimum of 750k under the cap. With the the rest to be made up from uncapped third party deals. So they couldn't put him on the books for 200k and have 1.3 Mil in third party deals. Not sure if that's guaranteed but that's just how it was said above.
I'd think jwh and Moa would be taking up about 750k cap space alone. We had to fight to keep jwh and nappa was also upgraded. I think we're sweet for 2016 but the real changes will come in 2017.

I think Burgess is not worth it for $1.5 million. You could get three quality players for that or two very high quality players. Though with someone like Burgess you're not just buying his playing ability, you get his presence and the fact that he lifts the team.
Still don't think he's worth that much.

He has had plenty of practise on his knees and elbows. Just ask Russ.Sickie Lame .... King of Bestiality

$700k-$800k from the salary cap and then the same again in third party payments.
If he plays the way he did before he went to Union he will be worth every cent for Souths..

Here is my view from a 'rational' bunnies fan.
*Great to have Burgess back in league. From all reports was a fish out of water in union.
*Suspect certain promises were made to Burgess before switching codes, hence his selection for 2015 rwc squad.
*Does anyone really understand how the salary cap works in detail? I can't pretend to. I don't think bulldogs and storm were the only two clubs rotting the cap since 2002. It is noteworthy that both scandals came from internal sources & not salary cap audits.
*Finally, I freely admit the carry on after the 2014 GF was over the top. But game itself was one-sided & 30-6 a fair scoreline. Dogs won the penalties 6-5. To be honest, It was the 2014 prelim final & the 10-5 penalty count that was critical in the bunnies beating chooks and in Souths winning the 2014 comp in my humble opinion.Last edited by bunnywithteeth; 11-09-2015, 09:10 AM.

Surgi is on $500k which is all that counts toward the salary cap. The rest? is TPP.
Why would you knock back $1.5m a season if you can get it elsewhere? What happened to the "looking after your future/limited time in the game" argument?
$4.5m + TPP is a difference of $3m over 3 years...
That's a heck of a lot of honour right there.
