  • The Pearce tackle revsitied!

Dont want to go on again about Pearce...I do like him and he is a genuine first rgade average halfback..simple.

Fair enough, he couldn't handle a rampaging Gallen...alot of guys would struggle....but what really annoyed me most...and it annoys me when anyone does it...is when they just give up the chase and the scorer brings the ball around closer to the posts..

Pearce just dropped off and watched...he ccould have follwed through and made Gallen put the ball down further away etc...a number of players could have actually.. watch the try again..

Ive seen us dot his many times...just stop chasing and let the try scorer advance their psoition...this is coaching as well as attitude.

But isnt that what an "ORIGIN" player does that your normal run of the mil player doesn't..isn't this an attribute that sets these super footballers apart from the rest??? You always hear these guys going on about origin this and that...

Ive seen Pearce actually do this in orign...give up the chase when he was in the area to make a difference... maybe he will get this from playing origin...

But every inch counts and these small things compound into big things.

nyway..enough ofmy PEarce bash...Ilike him..he is a good solid footy

He doesn't look like developing an attacking game any time soon. If he doesn't have this mongrel tenacity he will be very ordinary.

Gallen didn't do a good enough job of getting closer anyways, Porter missed the sitter of a goal that it was !

Pearce can't stop Gallen from putting it in closer if he's behind him can he?

I dont think that tackle was all Pearce's fault. Wasn't he marker? Didn't someone (I think SKD) rush up too quick on his outside? Yeah, Pearce should not have dropped off so easily but we are clutching at straws if we are going to start bashing him for his defence. It was Gallen for gods sake. It took 3 of our players to put him on the ground everytime he ran the ball up. Whoever rushed up and ran straight past Gallen and Peace shoulda been helping him out.

It was as bad a miss as Anasta's on Greg Pearce. How about Carney's pace to catch him? If Carney has a groin injury then Im Ron Giteau.

If Carney had scored his try (the guy marking him did a BLOODY good job!!) And Symonds had scored his 2 tries (1 was legit, the other again... only got stopped by BLOODY GOOD defence) then nobody would care.

Saying Pearce's tackle was $hit is like saying Australia only got knocked out of the soccer world cup because Schwarzer let goals in and that means he's a rubbish goalie. Some things just happen... if we win then the small "errors" get ignored...

What pissed me off more than Mitch missing Gallen, was that Gallen was able to run in the ingoal past half a dozen easts players to put the ball down closer to the posts, making it an easier attempt at goal. Mentally soft!

Maybe crickey his mates expected him to make that tackle and if not chase gallen himself, it only resulted in 4 points anyway, did he even put a hand on him???
