  • Patience is a virtue

Why can't we just follow the lead of other performing clubs and slowly rebuild. I cringe (and giggle) when I see players like Hannant and Soward leading the teams they are at now. Our rebuild should have begun in 2006 when Freddy called it quits.

Good point free willy but unfortunately patience is not a virtue associated with this effing club the Roosters and nor will it ever be should the current power structures remain.

I'm wondering whether I should change my avatar because currently for mine, the Roosters are the joke of the league.

Let me ask this. If they players aren't performing, then why ? What part does the coaching staff play eg not just training, tactics, skills but also motivation. That is really lacking atm.

MAte the team goes out with the same plays the same pathetic structure every week,
The opposition teams know exactly what to do, where they will be running, where they will be kicking.
play in a team like that and I bet most players would look ****ed

I was sort of alluding to that. But we snapped up the timber long after it expired.

After the 2004 GF, the shattered Roosters set out to destroy the Dogs..

Gould, Fittler and Politis decided we will rape and pillage the dogs...

Seemed like a good idea at the time..

Look at them today and have a look at us..

Patience is good, but if we have a structure where we have a coach that is mates with most of the team, with no experience and no experienced help, patience wears thin.

Like i said in a previous post, see nathan brown at the Dragons, he was mates with the players and that how the players treated it, no matter how hard he tried to say that was not the case.

We are now seeing this with Freddy. He has no experience, we have players with skills that are not being utilised, we don't have plays that suit these players skills, seriously, put it down to inexperience on fittlers part, he was never ready for coaching when he took over and will not be until he gets one of 2 things

                    1) an experienced coach as coaching director

                    or

                    2) we get a new "EXPERIENCED" head coach and freddy as his assistant.

Freddy in a great playing career has always had teams built around him.........he has never the experience to build a team...........thats the problem we have.

I agree with a number of things said in recent times regarding the way forward and what shoudl be done, but one thing stands out whenever I watch the Roosters, which drives me mad.. It is the lack of fitness..

It impacts us all over the park, we miss tackles because we are too fatigued, we can't attack because we are too fatigued, we can't get up quickly in the tackle, because we are too fatigued, we can't make good decisions in defence because we are too fatigued, mentally and physically we are just no where near fit.

Using AFL as an example, look at what Geelong did, they missed the top eight in 2006 with a list very similar to the list they won with in 2007 they have now 50 wins from 53 games since early 2007. The only changes they made in the off season at the end of 2006 was to sack their fitness and strength and conditioning coach and recruit better people.

The first priority for the Roosters is to overhaul the fitness department and get serious about players putting in to their fitness to be able to go hard for 80 minutes and compete with teams, even when the 50/50 calls go against you. When you are fit you are also less likely to give away the stupid penalties.. The Roosters need to really get this part right, before they go and purchase anymore players... Otherwise we will continue to turn potential players into average players or worse.

The season is beyond the Roosters now and I say start preparing for next year by bringing in the right conditioning people now... It may even start to provide some results later in the year..

You have brother and I have to say Im agreeing more and more with every loss.

I still wonder if its the mental leading to the physical or if its the opposite??? I guess we are just farked both physically and mentally. The basic errors we conceed and lack of discipline are killing me personally.

This is a point that was discussed and mentioned at the club and functions several times ever since 2006 by a number of staff, that we would try and replicate a Bulldog sort of culture here.. It is something several of our Bulldog recruits have also mentioned..

Every club is different, we need our own culture.. It has been a terrible failure and clearly the wrong strategy..

We are the Roosters, we need to show some pride in what we represent, what we stand for, our history, our achievments, we need to create our own bloody culture!!
