  • My Ten Cents Worth....

It was just fantastic, Friday night.
We smashed them in every meaning of the term, ....they won't recover for awhile.
Our forwards have gone to another level since JWH has been unavailable, every bloody one of them.
You could say our form in the first half was so hot that it melted the numbers of our friggen jerseys.

    But I still worry.
The optimist in me died a couple of years back, but I remain a realist.
Friday night will be hard to top, as 12 in a row becomes nerve wracking.
And we will cop the game managers with their QLD agenda.
It won't be easy from here.

Trent has a difficult task to keep this team on a high for another few weeks.
He's already proved to me that he's one of the two best coaches we've had, but winning this year would prove he's in the great catagory.
Good thing for us that the powers that be under- value the minor premiership.(should be more dough to the club but)

    Can we keep this up?

    T.I.T.
    The red bars have spoken.

    GO EASTS.

Mate, it's ok, just a touch of 'chicken little' syndrome, rooster fans suffer from this malaise this time of year.

Last Friday was not a game worth talking about, it was a training run against a poorly prepared under manned team.

Don't get paranoid about a QLD agenda, if you looked ahead cowboys &; broncos play each other next week so they need to sort themselves out.

Our team &; coach are in un charted waters but they looked mentally & physically strong, Robbo knows destiny are in their hands

              Thanks for the response,
I do appreciate what you said, and would've agreed completely in the past.
But I ain't paranoid about sport.
Just calling it as I see it.
You're reference to un-charted waters hit the nail on the head, imo.
Robbo's done the best for this club already.
He deserves any accolades dumped on him.

I wish destiny was purely in our players hands, like it used to be.

Hard to compare era's , but they gotta be close to 75.
SBW at his best might have tipped the scales in my mind, but that's like saying I wish we had Fittler as 5/8 when Horrie was in his prime.

We just need this comp big time.

I have been following this team since 1972. I am as paranoid as any easts fan (with the possible exception of spirit of 66, who really should be medicated). In my first year as a young fan I watched referee Keith Page dismantle us in a GF to get Manly over the line. Lived through the magnificent mid 70s and attended our destruction of Saints in the 75 GF. Then the long drought before 2000 - Brisbane were better than us that year. 2002 glory. 2010 Tony Archer and touch judges gave a reprise of the Keith Page stitch up to get Illawarra over the line - I'll never forgive that kunt.

2013 we were so damn good we couldn't be stopped by a lot of biased refereeing. Last year we could be and were stopped.

This year? I think we will be damn hard to beat regardless. With something like a fair shake from match officials we will be far too strong.

I have my condition under control this year. Truly!

(Unless we score Ben Cummins over the next few weeks. If we do, I will need to be heavily sedated.)

Player 1, Keith Page - I despised. Been a Easts man a tad longer than yourself. I recall Page sent off 3 Easts players prior 72 and one of them was cleanskin Johnny Peard against Manly on the SCG match of the day

The Sunday Footy Show boys made a good point re the reward for finishing minor premiers, now really means very little, a piddly $100.000 , which is chicken feed these days, they suggested, you either make it say $500.000, or give the minor premiers, the first week off, the only team to get that reward, now that would make it a cherished reward, that all teams would strive for.

I think his name explains why he may be scarred. They didn't win a game that season.
