If so, that's what I call a total balls up.

    TOTAL balls up.
I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps Hayne's salary would be significantly subsidised by a TPA ala SBW.

    Say - 550k/cap 450k/TPA's Total $1 million a year

As much as we love Rog, he doesn't have Hayne's profile.

Give me Roger every day of the week over Hayne at this stage of their careers.People forget how Hayne only tried every other week , granted he was unstoppable when he did. RTS stats are mind boggling week in week out and is only on a upward spiral.

It's a TOTAL balls up - but not for that reason.

Big statement but Roger will be better than Hayne - in fact, I would say he is already better than him.

I agree however negotiations started some time ago.

I rate Rog above every other FB in the comp and was extremely sceptical about his transition.I also think he will continue to progress his game.

It's not so much the 800k. I think he's worth more when comparing that figure to other FB. However, if you agree to pay him that amount, you inevitably weaken the squad by compromising your depth, balance across the park and the next generation like Hastings, Mitchell etc.

                Now the 'Plane' wont land...

I believe there now exists enough room to accomodate his pay without compromising our depth

                    2 issues Darkone

                    His contract with the Warriors
His ability to attract a TPA large enough to bridge the gap as i can't see the club having a lazy 800k left in our cap allowance.

I agree with you. I would prefer Sheck over anyone else for fullback. With him gone, Hayne would have been fantastic for us but now we have to go to a much less inferior option whoever that will be

Imagine if Hayne had played for a good team and not the Eels. RTS is certainly special but I still think Hayne is the better player at the moment. Despite his talent I think RTS will struggle with the Warriors and go off the boil for a while. It seems to be a trend with players who have huge break out years like Hayne, Carney, Barba, etc.

His contract agreement with the Warriors is the biggest impediment of the 2, whether the back flip can be induced only his manager (& Politis) would know

Given a package was prepared by Politis for Haynes assumed 2016 return it can also be assumed this package can be accessed towards a revised to Roger

                              There's no package.

If that was to happen we would have to urgently move on a couple of players (at least) and would have to find some third party.

We don't know if part of Haynes package was subsidised by Dave Smiths 'war chest' as the article alludes to. Rog wouldn't qualify unless he was looking at switching codes.

It's hard to know just how much money is available.
