  • Sharks Roosters Penalties

According to nrl stats we average 6.4 penalties per game. Sharks average 6.3. That just doesn't sound right to me and not in line with what gets mentioned in numerous threads. Does anyone have different stats? Or can anyone link me to the sharks long term stats that show them receiving more penalties than other clubs?

Sharks fan is getting stuck into me.

The "Penalties For" on the NRL website is incorrect - it should actually be Penalties against. Can't believe they haven't bothered fixing that up.

Ask them to count their premiership trophies, bet they know that one.

No they are at 7.95 average. Very 2014 Rabbitesque.

This website has pretty much every stat you would ever need recorded, including penalty counts all the way back to 1980.

And for the record, the Sharks have received 175 pens @7.95 per game so far this year, while we've received 130 @5.91 per game.

(Go to "Rugby League Tables" --> "All Teams" --> "Penalty Counts")

              That seems to answer it.

So if we were to play them, and we go by the stats, we could say that sharks would win the penalty count 8-6.

We would kill them if thats what the count is.

They won the penalty counts 6-4 and 8-7 in the two games this year and it didn't help.

Yeah but if we play them in a final we might actually take them seriously for a change.

Watching the Roosters v Broncos game, it was really clear that the strategy was to power up field for 5 tackles, kick the ball deep and use our defence to contain them in their own territory. If the referees decide to make penalty welfare payments to our opponents if they find they are pinned down in their own half, it makes a big difference. Cronulla get a LOT of these little gifts.

The Sharks/Ennis are constantly appealing for penalties.

                        It's quite pathetic really.

Their whole game plan is geared towards penalties.

Sharkies are the last league fairytale.

I get the feeling they're going to be there.

The penalties dry up in the finals and they have no attack.

Seriously, Jeff Robson with a premiership ring?
