  • Sonny Ball

I read Paul Kent's book about Sonny Bill over the weekend.

I was left very proud about the coup that Nick (and Gyng) pulled to get him here. It's pretty clear that no other club could have done it.

The last bit was about 2014 and it was more of a wank about Burgess than anything about Sonny.

The bits on SuperLeague were interesting. Kent wasting a lot of space trying to tell us how much he knows about boxing wasn't.

He beats up Khodr and lands a couple of blows on Mundine. Though Khodr was left s just as much an enigma for me as before. If it is indeed the case, how did he get this great sportsman and role model under his spell?

If anyone is planning to buy the book you should get a few to chip in and share it around. It's not worth keeping after you have read it.

I am not a particular fan of Paul "PK" Kent so I will not be purchasing his book however I did read an excerpt of his book online a few weeks past and I found it interesting in detailing the night that Sonny Bill Williams left the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and the aftermath that was not seen to the public. It was quite a long and interesting read however I did feel that perhaps this was the most important part of the book and that the rest was perhaps not going to be interesting and would be filled with content not relating to the saga at hand.

I always get reminded of the character from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas named ironically Kent Paul. He's a Ian Faith (Spinal Tap) style manager that everyone hates but he thinks he'd beloved. That's a motif that seems to run through Paul Kent's life.
      SUPER DRAGON!

I bought the book when I was at the airport on the weekend. Am only about half way through and you're right, khoder is the interesting character so far. No dramas from Paul Kent from me. As far as journalists goes he would be the lesser of the majority evil.

I actually don't mind Paul Kent. He comes up with some good stuff from time to time. Have to admit that it's not a book I would race out and purchase but something I would read given the chance.

And for the record, I quite enjoy Johnny Tobin as well!

It's electronic mate. Otherwise I would have no problem giving it to you.

I try to only buy electronic books now.

Luckily I can get almost all of the Little Golden Books and Dr Seuss on the iPad...

I flicked through this book in a shop. The section on Sonny in the Grand Final was a good read and highlights the benefits of having a true champion in your team when the chips are well and truly down.

Did Kent at least give SBW plenty of credit for his performances and effect on our squad when we won the comp in 2013? If so, what did he say generally speaking?

Lots of credit. But nothing that we didn't know already.

Kent is a dock head, small man syndrome at its best, not as bad as beetroot face and the drink driver but very close

What happened to all the shenanigans? It was quite entertaining.

I haven't read the Paul Kent book but I will give it a read given the chance. You don't have to like the author to read something by him or her, it comes down to personal interest as well as personal taste. Sometimes it is refreshing to read something by someone you have a contrary view with or dislike, sometimes it changes your view.

However, I draw the line with Abbott and his publication 'Battlelines' although I have read some passages from it.
