  • Hastings & L Mitchell

Yesterday's game got me thinking - Jackson Hastings is 19 and made his debut this year and has been getting better with each game he plays. Robbo has introduced him well, mainly off the bench but happy to throw him into the deep end of the halves when he has to. I am not sure, but I dont think Hastings played NSW Cup before NRL, if I am right I think he went straight from

Latrell Mitchell just turned 18, and is yet to play NSW Cup.

But if Robbo is happy to give Hastings a go and he is a similar age to Mitchell, you have to wonder if Robbo has decided on Fergo or someone else to be FB next year. Also where is Mitchell going to fit in, considering our backline will be the same this year? Will they drop one of the current players or move Fergo to FB and bring Mitchell in.

Im actually surprised he didnt give Latrell a run against Newcs ..may be he will against Parra ? I hope so he should.

He definitely played for Newtown a few times but I'm not sure how many games he played.

Hastings and Mitchell will one day play for the Kangaroos.

I only realised yesterday when researching Mr Matagi that Joe Burgess is locked in to the end 2018.

I thought that young Jackson "Horrie" Hastings played well in both of his matches that he started in the halves and he has shown a lot of promise in those matches. The first try that he set up was with a wonderful pass. He will need to work on his defence but he is still very young and this will come with time and effort. I have every faith that young Hastings will be a very good player for us but perhaps nominating him to play for Australia is a little too early right now.

I like both of these kids. And they are still just kids basically.

The club has a very good plan to replace sheck for fullback next year (I am still shattered he is leaving), we just have to be patient and hope things work out as they hope.

You obviously don't watch any of the u20s games as you would see Latrell is a long way off playing first grade. Too many mistakes, including bad defensive issues

And who is that halftime?? There isn't really any top replacements available now. Hayne would be the only one but he will most like make at least the practice squad and stay in the US throughout 2016

Hastings has the ability to succeed, he just needs to watch his temper, when he gets niggled in a tackle he erupts, and ends up giving a penalty away.

I cant see us getting Hayne, even if he fails to get graded in the US, we have very little room left under the cap, even Uncle Nicks famous brown paper bag, would get closely scrutinised if we tried that one on.

In my point of view next year we have a hugggge debacle in the fullback position.
Watching the game yesterday Freddy was talking about some of the Roosters bosses being sceptical about RTS in fullback. For that reason they would of held off signing him on a fullbacks wage from 2016 onwards. In the mean time RTS has dominated this position and is currently sitting on a 210+ Running metre average per game. The Warriors lured him in and next thing you know he is signing with them.

At first I was cranky with Roger. But now my fustration has turned to whoever didn't want to take the gamble on Roger?
They decided to wait and see how he goes because they were sceptical of how he would go. But now it looks as if someone within our current system will be playing fullback next season and the gamble on them is much greater than the gamble of Roger.

It's a real stuff up. Big time.

I can't see Ferguson in fullback, the best part about his game is getting on the outside of his man to create for his winger.

1- Fiurst mistakMini ans Shek shouldve swapped positions last year
2- Why in the world would they be sceptical? he was always gonna be a star there is nothing to think about
3- some one who is responsible should be held accountable
4-Shek if he wants to can become a great 5/8th imagine next year if we had him..latrell gets blooded in on wing gets the ropes on full back in two years shek wouldve been 5/8th for sure
5- He is worth his weight in Gold- never have I seen a fullback with such a huge work rate -can chime in and suppot and create -takes it up the middle-gets in as another half -he is too good

Thes eblokes dont learn every thing in U20's with a lacklastur NSW they learn nothing they get blooded in and taught the ropes in first grade.
The few times of seen him he looks bored he is ready for another challenge and he will probably get it next year.
As I remember here many said they were shitting themselves about shek taking over Mini .
the boy has talent and needs a chance to see where he is at and what he needs to improve on-if its defense and Im sure it is then be it
