We played without Friendy prior to last years finals & we got the job done with those games

we are a team of good players whose strength I have always said is the bench

the bar does not flinch when they come on

with the return of SKD beside Fergo, holy $hit we gonna give it a shake

put your hard earned on our team & have a great xmas

we are the only ones who know how to beat JT & his mates, the emotional pressure to win it for him will be their undoing.

That was very strange coming from Freddy I thought.

I've thought for a while Jake's our number one player... RTS the only other real contender for mine.... Let's call him number 2.

      Fergo a ways off yet.

I think our best is Jake, followed by Rog. After that I'd put JWH, Pearce and Maloney as our next best.

I will put Maubs up there for pure value, loyalty and work ethic. He wont ever get pushed out of the club for that reason.

And SST for having a "I did not see that coming" type of season.

Just a side note, how great is it to hear these kind of things said about our club! The last 3 years have been amazing for the Roosters, the introduction of SBW seems to have been a massive turning point in our clubs history. Our boozing culture days of 2009 seem so far behind us.

I am a very very proud Rooster these days
I support two NRL teams, the Roosters and whoevers playing Souths

I'd say RTS is our MVP. The wheels would fall off if we were to lose him for the rest of the season. I felt the same way about Friendy last season however the 2015 model SOH could do the job imo.

I think JWH is our best player.

He's been really heating up and last week was immense. Best front rower in the game again on current form.

I have him just behind RTS.

Who would play FB if Rog went down? (TOUCH WOOD)

Fergo is our best player, a genuine matchwinner.
If he had not been injured we would have won a few of those close losses earlier in the season and be on top of the table now.
Scored the winning try in rd 14 vs the Warriors in his first game back from injury despite no match fitness and last Friday his try when he beat three defenders stopped the rot after 28 unanswered points by the Bulldogs.
And he has a personal goal of redemption. Like Sonny Bill in 2013 and Carney in 2010.
The culture at the club under Robbo will bring out the best in him.

Made me think who would be our best player.

The fact it is so hard to find one shows how well balanced we are. No one-man team like the Cows or Souffs here.
I agree. I love Fergo. Always have. He is our x-factor.

My point is proven really. We don't have a best player that we rely on heavily. That is such a bonus because the loss of any one player can be covered - unlike Inglis and Thurston's teams.

Brisbane is probably in the same boat as us by we are on the top of the boat and they are under the waterline.

Fergo was so angry with this defense last week

that try he scored is testament to his will & character

it tipped the game on it's head when the dogs (& Rabs & Gould) thought they had it won.

I think Ferguson's defence over the last couple weeks compared to the previous few games prior to that have really shown how much talk SKD must do from the wing to control when they move up, when they slide, etc.

The amount of times Ferguson was caught out of position sprinting in to take an inside man and leaving Elliott (who himself is not the best decision maker, but then again that's why he is a reserve grade winger) on his own was quite baffling as his defence is usually spot on.

I have a feeling Pearce's defensive form over the past month is probably not helping either as generally the man Ferguson gets caught out trying to rush up on is the bloke Pearce is supposed to be marking. The entire right flank of our defence has really lost a lot of confidence the past few weeks.

You say the last few weeks, but before conceding 28 against the Dogs we conceded 8, 0 and 4. That's pretty good. And Fergo was dominant defensively in all of those, even without SKD.

We conceded big metres down right flank in both those games, with Ferguson rushing out of the line quite a few times and missing the mark. Luckily it was against absolute dud football teams so we weren't punished by it. He also missed more than his share of tackles against the warriors and dogs, although TBH its not so much the number of missed tackles in those games as it was the number of times he chose to sprint out of the line but wound up tackling no one and leaving Elliott stranded (again, Pearce contributed to some of these by allowing his man to get on his outside which tempted Ferguson to come in).

Prior to those games his defence has been rock solid, with his only trouble being his ankle clearly not being ready for several weeks after his return. I fully expect with Skids back for the right side defence to solidify once more.
