Could be the solution to our fullback issue?

I've always watched him and thought he'd naturally just progress into a centre/2nd rower ala Brad Takarangi but the more I see him the more I think he might be able to handle the move.

Would be a very different fullback to RTS and Mini who in their prime at fullback built their games around explosive power and workrate so I think he'd take a while to win some people over but extremely skillful with ball in hand.

I'm still not convinced but curious to hear what others think...

If the club thought he was the solution, I am guessing he and not Mitchell would be playing fullback in the Under 20's. I can't see the logic in thrusting a rookie there next year, it is one of the most important positions on the field. Teams would easily exploit someone who was not experienced in playing the position, let alone having first grade experience.

Short of signing anyone externally we'll be playing a rookie there any way.

Promoting internally seems like the only option, I don't think there's any talent on the market at the moment. Certainly not in our price range.

I think some players that don't stand out in the 20s actually play better in firsts ala billy elliot. With quality around you in firsts, you don't have to live up to expectations that are put on a future superstar in the 20s.

I mostly agree. I don't think it's so much that they play better it's that they don't have to do it all. They just have to be coachable and know their role.

At this stage, Fergo is our only real choice for fullback next year, Mitchell is way to to far away from being ready to play first grade,so man up. and accept the reality of the situation.

Sounds like most rookie fullbacks.... some never learn. Mini springs to mind, his attempt down in Canberra when he got sent off is one of the funniest things I've seen at a game of League.

Manu definitely has the footwork of sheck safe under the high ball, good passing game, Mitchell has a power game, his match winning try last night was power and strength, great goal kicker, I would leave fero in the centers, however with burgess coming someone will have to make way. Maybe burgess will play fullback

Manu has that explosive air step thing going on and is very evasive.

He's definitely a player with loads of potential and one to watch.

I was there and yes it was a much better performance, they dropped Nicholls for a start as 7 which helped and put Garvey there and the ball was thrown around more so in the second half, which they don't normally do and for the whole season have only been passing to the left side. Which has been frustrating. by throwing the ball around they are making the opposition tired in defence. Joey Lussick hogs the ball too much and tries to score himself and in most cases drops the ball, he looks like he can only pass to the left and not to the right. Great to see Charlie Taylor get a double last night, played well, worked hard to get those tries in the corner and finally get some ball passed to him, has been wasted all season. Vincent Leuluai and Sukamanu Raki both played well. Manu and JTS need to work on their defence. Latrel Mitchell makes too many mistakes, dropped balls and let some tries in, but did scored a beautiful try at the end. If this team can play a fast, throw the ball around style of game to both sides and get the ball right out to both edges equally and constantly and stop the hogging to the left side, they could be a big threat at finals time

Yes. He is and a good player. I would drop Lussick over him, Garvey can pass both ways for a start and is better in defence up the middle than Lussick

We are screwed next year without Maloney and RTS.

Without them we don't win the game last night.
