Defamation is actually quite hard to prove. You need to prove that the person who said or made the statement did so with the intention of slandering you name or causing you harm, intent is always a hard thing to prove.

I have had it suggested to me by interested parties that there has been a retraction of certain accusations by certain other parties thanks to suggestions of legal ramifications of a financially injurious nature if said accusations were not retracted.

Hmmm defamation's a tort, not criminal so it's not about intent. As a result you'd first have to work out who you're gonna sue... peris or the papers?

To prove defamation you generally need to prove that somebody published a false statement to a 3rd party that caused damage to the person.

Peris didn't publish anything, she made a report to the police. The police examined the allegations and decided that it was worth pressing charges. So no... you can't sue a woman for reporting domestic violence to the cops.

The papers? IMO you'll probably find they are VERY specific and factual about what they publish. It's true that he's been charged and his ex is the person who made the allegations. You can't sue the papers for reporting the truth.

IMO defamation's a no go. I don't think Peris would have any money to give SKD anyway. While it s*x being falsely charged (I've been there) your best bet is to move on. No point trying to bring Peris down if her claims are false... nothing for SKD to gain by doing that.

It's Mike Baird that should be worried. His comments were defamatory. I suspect that the younger Peris woman is a victim in this but not at Kenny-Dowall's hands. I would lay odds that her wonderful, morally upright mother was cunny deep in this.

Johnny, I would be very pleasantly surprised if you are right about this.

Although it is entirely possible that the worst SKD did, if anything, was to restrain this woman by her wrist to avoid being struck with a power board or similar object, unfortunately there are bigger interests at stake here than justice being served or the rights of the innocent, particularly if they carry a Y chromosome.

Certain powerful individuals and lobby groups cannot be seen to lose face.

And we can never, ever have it acknowledged that DV allegations can sometimes, however rarely, be falsely made. Or that sometimes, however rarely, some women can be just as bad as some men.

SKD will be screwed IMO.

P1, I hate to say you're right....not because I don't think less of you...but the truth is, if this turns out to be a lie promulgated for financial gain then people who have a genuine concern for domestic violence will lynch an innocent to fire the cause.
