FORMER Kiwi international Kevin Locke has sensationally handed in his resignation to the Salford Red Devils.
Locke hasn’t played a game since May 1, and has appeared in just 13 out of a possible 27 matches since signing a three-and-a-half-year deal last season.
He has struggled with injuries and form, leading Salford owner Marwan Koukash to publicly state he would happily release the 26-year-old should the right offer come across his table.
“He has sent a resignation request to the club,” Koukash told Press Association Sport.
“We have not yet responded.
“I will be making a full statement, revealing our side of the story, on Tuesday.”
There have been reports Locke’s decision stems from unpaid wages.
Locke’s Leeds-based lawyer Richard Cramer said his client now regards himself as a free agent.
“He is still owed a considerable amount of money by the club and this matter is currently being pursued,” Cramer told the Manchester Evening News.
“It appears that Kevin now wants and intends to become a free agent in order for him to try and find a new club either in this country or in Australia.
