  • Pearce Revels as Blues Upset Queensland!

    Could that be tomorrow's headline?

I have been critical of Junior recently, frustrated by him not grabbing tight games by the scruff of the neck and making a clutch play to get us home.

I still think he is a hell of a player, but has he been playing out of position all this time? Do we need more of a creator in the half back role?

I know, 2 minor premierships and 1 premiership. But could he be even better in another position?

I would love a giant serving of egg on my face from Junior tonight though....I wish him lots of luck

I just see more Queensland dominance tonight, unfortunately. DCE's inclusion will probably work in NSW's favour though

I live to be surprised by that man. Never doubted his talent as a footballer but just his ability as a half back.

You just put the kiss of death on him.

He hasnt dominated in a pressure cooker match and tonight will be no different.

          But NSW will still win...

              Well done jnr.

Did what he had to do, best thing he did was play tough and upset a few of those rednecks. Jenko had a good game too.

Pearce played well in his proper position. The playmaking was largely through Hodgkinson and the few kicks Pearce did make were very good.

If Jimmy moves on, Would you play Hastings at 7 Pearce at 6?

Pearce did the bulk of the organising tonight, he's not paying a 5/8 role no matter what number he had on his back. Nearly all his possesions were at first receiver with Dugan and Hodkinson getting the bulk of the ball at second receiver.

Pearce was solid. Good kicking game and a few good passes to his outside backs. Think his game 1 showing was a little better. Had a bit of a loose carry a few times this game which were deemed strips (i'm fine with that, but ball security please Mitch)

Hodkinson's running game seemed stronger than Pearce's this game IMO

Overall, good expansive game to watch. Much better than this year's game 1. Our boys who played tonight can be proud of their efforts, especially Jenko who was brilliant to watch in broken play

If I'm not mistaken, Player 1, your post title is an allusion to a 1971 Daily Mirror headline - "McKean Revels as Easts Upset Saints". Very clever, if a little obtuse.

Pearce had a better first half than his second, but he scored kudos for being in the woman beaters face all night.

Jennings was very good, I just hope he brings that involvement back to us.

One of the main reasons NSW looked better last night was Farah didn't try to overplay his hand as he usually does.

I doubt the refs will be as strict on QLD and there 10 mtrs at Suncorp so I'm expecting NSW to get reamed in game 3.

                          Chook.

I thought Farahs delivery from dummy half was frustratingly slow and it allowed the defense to get up quicker. He also missed tackling Scott for the 1st try BUT I'm sure he'll be there in game 3.

Pearce had a good game, but one thing he has to work on is his ball security, more often then not, he gets the ball knocked out, he knows the ball is targeted in tackles, and needs to grab it like a vice, don't worry about fighting in the tackle, just concentrate on keeping the ball secure, it nearly cost us the game on Wednesday night.
