  • Latrell Mitchell & others signed long term

The length of the deal for Latrell says a fair bit about what Robbo has in mind for the kid. Brilliant news.

Perhaps a stupid question but I assume the two Mitchells are brothers. Is that correct? And is the other brother any good? Anyone know anything about Manu?

      Yes they're brothers.

Shaquai is like a huge 5/8, plays in the back/front row and has great hands.

Manu is a bit similar to Roger, he's not in the same class level though.

Yep, they're brothers Shaq being the eldest. Although not athletically gifted like his little brother, Shaq possesses Artie-like ball skills usually before the line - a pleasure to watch.

Manu has blossomed heaps since starting on the wing the last few years in SG Ball. Excellent line-breaker.

Manu and Latrell are great signings. Let's get serious though Shaq is average at best IMO. Some good skills but cannot ever see him doing any damage in FG. A poor mans version of Kasiano. As I said just my opinion but if he was at another club we wouldn't be so keen on him....... and will only get 'bigger'

Manu was brilliant in the U20s vs the Warriors. Great hands and power through the line.

Just on Shaquai, is he another Jonny Tuivasa-Sheck - brought along for the ride with his more talented brother - or is he a genuine 1st grade propsect in 3 or so years time?

Nice one and thanks for the news.

I'm busting to know what's happening with James Jimmy BBQ Maloney?

Watched the Holden cup game on the weekend, and thought Shaqai looked really good.
Got a lot of good balls away and took a lot of stopping.
Didn't play like he was here for the ride.

Great news regarding Latrell. He was brilliant against the warriors and showed glimpses of his special talent. First time I have watched him play and I'm a big fan.

To some cynical extent i agree that Shaq's retension would have played a part of the neg's.

The conditioning staff have worked a treat on Shaq during the off-season which has allowed him to play more minutes. If he can keep on track with his fitness who knows what e.g George Rose, Sam K.

Although, having said that, with the proposed interchange reduction it doesn't look rosy for the games big types.

you can bet the way they trumpeted the Mitchell/Mitchell/Manu re-signing that there is going to be some bad retention news regarding Maloney very very soon, they were trying to get a positive spin out there for the fans.

no doubt the only reason Shaquai got a 4yr deal was because we were desperate to keep Latrell, if he doesn't start taking his diet/conditioning seriously he won't get within 100 miles of first grade given the new interchange rules that are upcoming.

in regards Latrell he is a special talent, but also needs to knuckle down to take full advantage of his natural talent.

Manu reminds me of a young SKD, has moments of brilliance but also has regular blunders, there is certainly something to work with him, needs to continue to add muscle to his frame otherwise he will get rag dolled in first grade like Mini 2014 our Toups.

I can see Shaquai playing 1st grade. He's a big fella & will need a little time to get his frame sorted but I really think that he has all the attributes to make it. He's only just turned 19 & he'll still take another 18-24 months before I'd expect him to be considered for 1st grade

I'm happy with signing any of those boys from the Bantams clash with the warriors.

Came away mighty impressed... And even more with the work of Coach Hartigan.

I can't see that a reduction in the interchange would spell and end to bigger forwards at all.
People used to say "half-a-game" Artie wouldn't last the distance, glad Balmain thought as such.

League used to be a game for all types and sizes with different skill sets.
The currant format is too robotic.
Fitness and attrition play a part, but if it was up to me, I'd can the interchange altogether and just have a couple of fresh reserves.

I thought Johnny sheck looked good on the weekend, not much in the fancy footwork, but seems to have a bit of toe, and can find the line.
