  • Focus and Patience..........

More so the Lack of these two virtues !!

My gripe with the team are the two virtues i mentioned in the title.

We lack them, we lack them BIG TIME. when ever we get the ball, it seems like we want to score off every tackle, especially when we are close to the line.

i can understand if the opportunity is there, take it, but over the past few weeks, it seems as though the players are seeing opportunities that others cannot, or the defence can see our attack before we see the opportunity.

Personally, we have players with the skills to win, hell, it is basically the same team as last year. The pressure is on them to perform, but it seems the pressure is weighing them down and is sending them out of sorts.

Personally, i think they need to play some old school Rugby league, if it means playing boring high percentage footy, then so be it !!!

Focus on the task at hand and be patient, built pressure on the defence, make them work to stop our attack, the tries will come......with focus and patience.

What frustrates me is that we are MORE than capable of playing "steeler ball"..but we always seem to get those adrenaline rushes & go for the hero play..

We need to learn how to be patient..& it needs to be quick if we want to do anything this year..

Are our players too dumb to see what others do? Take Ennis...yes his scum but how many times in a game does he get the other players to drop the ball from dummy half? he just knocks their arm and they drop it. It seems like our players are asleep or their thinking of what club to hit after the game. There is no cunning play from our player yet they are very good at giving away penalties, like Myles. I do know we had a good run in the last 2 games...still, no thinking on how to beat a team. Is this a lack of Smiths tactical play?

The Chooks have a reputation for deliberately playing bad when they are unhappy with their coach. If Smith is shown the door the Roosters will be a completely different team over night, just as we saw when Freddy took over from Anderson.

We have showed a lot more patience, discipline, and passion in the last two games. Last night we even had two(?) grubber kicks which resulted in line dropouts. I cannot remember the last time we grubbered for a line dropout.

So despite the opinion of many, the club is trying to resolve some of our issues both on and off the field. We are just lacking one T Carney to convert the field position into points.

didn't we have about 31/35 completed sets with 15 left, got a lot of repeat sets and gave away very few silly penalties....seems to show a real presence of focus, patience and discipline if you ask me. what we can't do is score tries
I support two NRL teams, the Roosters and whoevers playing Souths

                        Does it??

Or does the fact that off the back of those high completions not being able to score points that the focus waines and the patience is lost??

When ever we play in the opposition half, every play is for a try. There is no build up of pressure, no opportunity to force the defence to make a mistake.

Yesterdays game, we only had 2 repeat sets from drop outs.

the game against the Dragons i repeat set from drop outs.

To finish the job, you need patience and focus from start to finish, getting high completitions is only one part of it, that side they have it down pat.........

Putting it that way The blame lies frimly with the 6 and 7

PLease answer this SM, why do you think this is?

*Is it because that is what Smith has in his plan?
*Is it because the players are coming up with that out of the blue?
*Or is it that the players are now not listening to Smith and do what ever they want to do?

Why just the 6 and 7? while they control the play, we have other factors like the 1 and 9 also being heavy influences in our attack close to the line.

On top of that, why not the rest of the team, league play is not only the man with the ball, it is also off the ball, are our players focused enough on what is on hand and working off the ball hard enough to help create the space and opportunity, or to put the pressure on the opposition....

It ain't as Black and white as the 6 and 7
