  • The Channel NINE Curse

pretty meaningless but interesting none the less, our W/L record on channel 9 compared to being on fox sports:

Channel NINE: 2 Wins 5 Losses
Fox Sports: 4 Wins 1 Loss

lets never play on channel 9 again

I usually like him - but I couldn't stand him on Sunday with his Bermuda Triangle bullshit that he kept going on and on with.

boycotted 9 completely last season after many seasons watching the televised games on mute.

Yeah I generally don't mind him but he was next level retard on Sunday. If love to have the option of listening to the sound of the crowd and the game without the commentators.

I pick up the international broadcast and in that version you can hear them all jibbering away. You can hear them setting up and from time to time they forget they are on air to some regions and say some very interesting things

Watch it in a pub/club where the sound's turned down. I usually just go to my local, grab a beer and enjoy the footy.

IMO all the commentators are d!ckheads, but they're just doing their job. They all have 'golden voices' that the TV stations dig.

I'd personally prefer an oldschool Roy and HG style commentary. Does anybody do that? If not, somebody online should totally broadcast their own commentary.

Crowdsourced NRL commentaries if Chris is looking for a new killer web idea. Actually there's probably a stack of fans doing it... anybody know of a good source?

Be great to take away the seriousness and cockfights. Just get a couple of clowns in the box who know nothing more than your average user about footy. Have enough beers that they're talking absolute $hyte and ramble on without a large TV network threatening them and paying cash for comments.

Warren is just so obvious about his hate of the Roosters, every little thing that could go either way, he always goes against us, I think it's time he returned to Junee at sat watching the pidgeons shit on his statue, and let an unbiasded caller take over the calling.

When your favourites to win the comp and you play crap most weeks you will get and deserve criticism .. simple as that.
Refs fault, Coaches fault, assist coaches fault .players fault. Canon and supermuz's fault .In the end its the players on the field directed by the coach.
Complain about bombs? well not always pretty it would be nice if anyone in the team would contest them ..thats how robbo plays for field position...not working to good but every year its the same and come second half to late season it all starts coming together we will just have to wait and see.
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

                      lol

Although, what he was trying to say was in itself correct...many a team has arrived at Shark park on a fine Sunday afternoon expecting to win and been beaten...including the Roosters more than once.
"Easts' reject" Des O'Reilly was responsible for one of our losses when he was playing for the Sharks in one of those games.

The less Channel 9 games we have the better - espec the Sunday ones which are the ones we tend to lose - yet to win 1 this year.

I cannot suffer 80 minutes of the idiots at 9 commentating. You either get the Grumpy old Men in Gould and Warren or Dumb and Dumber in Fittler and Johns. Enough to make your ears bleed.

It is either mute or I listen to the MMM commentary, even though there is a slight delay between commentary and picture. Unless that insufferable rabid Vermin supporter Maroon is calling of course.

I take a strange delight in not having to listen to the numbnuts like Fittler and Johns at half time. Watch the gums flapping while listening to a far superior product elsewhere.

Channel 9 lost their only decent commentator when Andrew Voss was punted - he's now providing quality commentary on Fox. The bloke may be a bit of a goose on occasions, but his off-the-cuff one-liners during the commentary crack me up.

You find that if he is right about something he won't let it go.

He may have been in the side but I doubt he was responsible. Des was hardly a game breaker.

Yes. I even took to Twitter to say how much I enjoyed Vossy and our Jimmy Smith (as well as Braith) together as a team in the Dogs v Saints game. Vossy and Jimmy both have a great feel for the history of the game and are about the only ones that actually do some research. I absolutely loved that coverage.

It will be interesting to see how high Jimmy gets in the pecking order because Ricky Stuart would be whiteanting him any chance he gets.
