Everyone is saying they hate origin. And then using examples of the media as to why origin is shit. Origin is everything rugby league should be. The media are a bunch of scumbags who write things to infuriate half wits dumb enough to take the bait.

Pearce has been bog average in every origin game he's played thus far, so its fair that he cop a bit of criticism. Then again however, guys like Farah have been ****ing diabolically crap every rep game they play and not a word is said about them.
Personally I am over origin as a concept now. Origin used to be the main advantage Australia had over the rest of the Test nations as it gave our side extra 3 games to tune up, form combinations, and also compete for their posiitons in the national side. These days it has just become an old boys club for "origin players" to have a bash and booze on with each other. The QLD team are so far up their own arses their maroon jerseys have turned brown, and NSW is so stuck in the "we need BIG MEN to BASH to victory" mantra that the game tonight will look nothing like the game that is played for the rest of the season.
Most of all, all of this is to the huge detriment to the Australian test side, which is looking down the barrel of 4-5 years of being dominated by NZ - a side who actually plays a positive brand of attacking footy that the big dumb Australian old boys club simply cannot handle.

Unfortunately we have a habit of letting rep players retire on their own terms. IMO slowly replacing the current lot will be a seriously painful job. Nobody's gonna get tapped on the shoulder and each member of the QLD Origin team will expect a celebration of how amazing they are when they retire.
The kids will never get a go and many will be burned. Say what you like about Pearce but IMO he'll be one of them. Had he signed with the Storm and been allowed to cheat for a decade, I reckon he could have filled Cooper Cronk's shoes and would possibly get the same amount of praise. Instead, he has been the poster boy for a less successful team and has taken responsibility for their lack of success. All Cronk does is work behind dominant packs, pass safe balls to star players and get setup for game winning drop goals. He does the simple things the right way and he's one of the boys. Whereas, I can think of a stack of NSW halves who are used to being under pressure, creating magical plays, pulling off 1%'ers and playing creative catch-up. IMO Cronk can't do that and probably wouldn't get a run as a NSW half if he were from NSW, played for Cronulla and nobody knew his name.
IMO all QLD has is gel. Most of them know each other and are used to winning together. The bitter double edge to the sword is they have no interest in playing with NSW players and have NFI what to do when they're losing.Last edited by ism22; 05-27-2015, 06:28 PM.

Cronk is a fantastic player if he was here at the Roosters he'd be the best player in the game. He doesn't possess the skill set of Thurston or even Pearce but what he can do he does perfectly. His kicking and passing game are so meticulous and he's the ultimate clutch player, always putting the ball where it needs to be.
He is the exact type of player our team needs really, stupid salary cap.

Really disappointed with the spine somehow not getting into position for a field goal though. That was diabolical. Pearce, Farah and Hodkinson screwed that up so badly in organizing the shot

I turned on the radio first thing this morning and the first thing I hear is some local Canberra announcer getting stuck into Pearce's kicking game and explaining how he lost NSW the game - and the selectors for picking him!! No mention at all about Hodkinson. I feel so sorry for Mitch. I imagine had NSW won, Pearcey would not be getting any praise for it. That would all be reserved for Hodkinson!

IMO he played a decent game and there's very little I can say he did wrong. Pearce had some good runs, his kicking played a MASSIVE part in shutting down slater/inglis and IMO his 'knock-on' coulda been a really special moment had the refs realised he kicked the ball before it hit the ground and QLD held him back so that he couldn't run away with a try.
Congrats to Pearce...
