Robbo is giving Hastings a bit of taste before he is given full orders during state of origin. Pearce or Maloney must be getting picked for soo.

Hastings doesn't look out of place in 1st grade.

Good defence from him, I'd like to see him at first receiver for a bit.

From the little I saw, he did well last night. Better than Mcilwrick... BTW, couldn't hear what was going at the pub I was at so what was the situation with Friend? I think he had ice on the anckle.

I am very interested to see how he goes in the halves at first grade level. He fills in at hooker well but Maubs would be my pick for utility bench spot.
I am happy to have him with us to be able to cover the halves but he just seems a bit arrogant and hard to like. He has only played a handful of fg games and already pushes players faces into the ground, gets up pushing the man playing the ball and works his knees into tacklers as he gets up to play the ball.
Plenty of teams have players like him, so maybe he is just our token 'grub'... Lol.

I cringed when i saw that ( the facial ) as it reminded me of the way Bird plays and pray he get's that crap out of his game, it's a look our team doesn't want or need. It's not as if we don't get enough attention from the ref's as it is.

I was impressed by his defence. They ran at him quite a bit & he was up for the challenge.

He is a tough little fella but we won't know how good he is until he gets a run at 6 or 7. And I can't see that happening as I imagine Maloney will 're sign soon. Maybe SOO will be his opportunity and that's why Trent promoted him.

Interesting that when the camera panned on Jake with ice on his ankle he looked to try to hide it. Mind you, an ankle broke in 17 places wouldn't keep Jake out.

Hastings has got a little bit of grub in him but it's born out of passion, so long as he toes the line and doesn't cross it too often I love it. Jared is someone who's learned how to toe the line, he overstepped a lot in his youth and it was frustrating but it was done out of passion and love for the game and our club so I can always forgive that. Morley had that passion too and we always managed to forgive him when he overstepped.

It's when being a grub defines you and you don't know where the line is anymore that it becomes an issue for me ala Josh Reynolds.

Jackson obviously has a long history with our club and he grew up supporting us so theres a lot of emotion there, embrace it, it's such a rare part of our game in club footy land as Milanja and I were only discussing a few days ago.

                        I love seeing stuff like this;

Hopefully just a precaution JC, you would think if he was trying to hide it, he wouldn't of sat on the sideline in view of all.

Good photo, hope the rumours of unhappiness at the club was just speculation.

Thought there would be a heap of father son combos starting to come from some of the great players from late 70,80s. Sterlo, kenny, lewis, meninga, and many more.

From memory, chooks seem to have a few more than other clubs i can think of off the top of my head, with ryan cross, mullins, hastings all having their dads play, while pearce, although Wayne didn't play for us, still came from a classy group from the 80s.

It is a rare thing, be nice if Freddie and SBW's partners can give birth to twin boys, so in 2036 we can get some more.

There's an interesting article in the SMH today about Ethan O'Neill, son of Julian O'Neill. He's in the Roosters development system and being mentored by Jack Elsegood. Just selected in the Queensland junior representative squad.
