  • How will he go at Easts?

    Omar god - age 23

    Looks good in broken play.

His kicking game could be handy if the old "kicking duel" comes back.

Hopefully he can kick field goals!

Really hard to tell from the footage but yes... his boot and footwork are promising. My 5c is this:
      1) He's a Kiwi... moved there aged 2, has a thick Kiwi accent and grew up as a Kiwi kid playing footy for some of the top footy nurseries over there.
      2) Wikipedia suggests he was rubbish and under-performed during 5 1st grade games. My web searching says otherwise... looks more like he signed a $610,000 deal in Japan (and chose Japan over the Warriors, the Sharks, Souths and a few Super XV teams.)
      3) Apparently he had a fair bit of contact with SBW over in Japan... also, his Twitter account shows he's in contact with Boyd and Napa already (although he's pulled the big Roosters badge... announcement delayed while we negotiate with RTS?)
      4) He looks fast... straight line kinda fast, can kick and can step. Promising!

No guaranteed starter or anything, but if POS, Robbo and SBW see promise in the guy then surely he can't be all bad?

I wonder how much the club has offered him?

Is he still worth $610k on the RU market?

        Omar the mystery man.

I think the club should play Hastings at FB next year until Maloney leaves and Latrell is ready.

Hastings isn't a FB's asshole and even if we did do that Hastings is almost as much of a work in progress as Mitchell.

After watching some highlights I can see some similarities between Omar and RTS. He might work as an interim FB.

Anyone whose name is pronounced "slime-ankle" sounds like he'd be very hard to tackle.

very similar to rts in a lot of ways , not quite as elusive but better straight line speed and just as big a hog as rts? he can tell the refs what he thinks of them in Japanese

if he hasn't made it by 23 he isn't going to make it.

Not often i agree with coggy but i"m afraid he's right on this occasion. Wyong player for mine.

That highlights reel mainly consisted of him playing touch footy for the first half and then playing in what looks to be a very average union comp (japanese rugby?).
                      Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

                        Maloney debuted at 24.

So a guy playing japanese rugby is the answer instead?

Sure Hastings won't set the world on fire but lets face it..we really won't be challenging for the trophy next year. It'll be more about rebuilding.
