    Wednesday, May 13, 2009
The Sydney Roosters confirm that Sia Soliola has signed a three year deal with St Helens commencing from 2010.

Soliola has been at the Roosters since 2004 and has gone through the club’s junior program from SG Ball to NRL level.

When informing Roosters CEO Steve Noyce of his decision, Sia expressed his desire to leave the club on a high.

“He was really enthusiastic about putting in a strong year for the Roosters and leaving the club on a successful note.”

            Soliola is leaving?

            Okay...good for him.

            Soli > Jets

            Sa > backrow

            Aubusson > centre

            Good stuff.

You know what the good thing is for Sia, he left on his terms.

he was not sacked, he was not dumped, he is taking a great opportunity to really consolidate his future.

Sia, good luck mate, will cheer for you when you play st helens.......send me over a jersey !!!!!!

He is only young as well. Doesn't usually happen like that but I for one will not miss him a great deal. He makes too many errors.

On ya son and good luck

                      From the St Helens Website

                      Soliola A Saint
                      13th May 2009, 9:12am

ST HELENS Rugby League Club have announced the signing of 22-year-old New Zealand international Sia Soliola on a three-year contract from 2010.

Soliola is a 100kg, 6ft 3” left centre currently with Sydney Roosters and is already an established New Zealand International.

Saints coach Mick Potter stated: “Sia will add size, speed and athleticism to our backline and will be a great addition to our squad next year.”

Chairman Eamonn McManus added: “Sia Soliola will be an exciting addition to St Helens and to Super League next season. He is already one of the best centres in the game and at 22, has his best years ahead of him.”

He has made more than 80 appearances for the Club, crossing the whitewash on 20-plus occasions.

“I am really looking forward to playing in England next year as St Helens is a fantastic club and I will be linking with my former Roosters team-mate Chris Flannery as well as Test team mate Tony Puletua,” Sia said. “Going to England is something that has appealed to me now for a while.

“I will get the opportunity to play in a world-class team and, at the same time, experience life in a different country.

“In saying that, the Sydney Roosters have been fantastic to me since I came over here as a teenager. I doubt I could play for any other club in Australia – hence my decision to experience something different going forward.”

This is sad news for mine. I understand it though but I still find it sad.
Soli has promised so much since coming into first grade and he is still quite young but with injuries and inconsistency he just hasn't shined like I wish he would.

Good luck in England Soli, I'm glad you won't be playing against the Roosters and I hope you do leave the club on a high but I'm afraid you won't given how the team is going.

Why we let a 22yr Old that has so much ability go is beyond me, In that time he has had a few bad injuries and 3 coaches. A was hoping as the young side developed he would become one of the most damaging backrowers the club has ever had.

Players like Fletch and Fitzy were not that good at 22, the one thing we had with this guy was time - he needed someone to develop him, you could see that on Monday night his defensive reads are terrible.....but geeeezzz when he connects they know they have been hit........

I think the Roosters will live to regret this decision
