  • Former coach's penalty stats

Does anyone have penalty count stats for coaches Stuart, Andersen, and Smith both at the Roosters and then at the other clubs they coached at?

Pretty sure asio have suppressed the files to prevent the ICAC investigation. The KGB might also be involved.

But seriously, it would be an interesting read to see the stats. Would be an annoying few weeks as the pen goes into meltdown though.

I've always thought that our issues with referees began post Ricky Stuart.
Ricky wouldn't hold back on blasting the officials so perhaps that got us some hand (to use a George Costanza ism) But the coaches we had post Sticky have been a lot more quieter from the point of view of criticising ref's. Brian Smith not so much, but for some reason all officialdom/media seemed to have it in for him and no one really cared to much what he had to say.

I think you can trace the origins of our getting reamed by the officialdom directly after Nick quit the NRL board.

          Chook.

I think Stuart had pretty neutral stats with us. Off the top of my head 2004 is the only positive penalty differential we've had in years, and 02-03 weren't too bad either. The other Stuart years in 05 onwards things started to go pear shaped though.

Cronulla has the best penalty differential of any side in the last 10 years or so I believe so Stuart's record there would have to be pretty damned good. All our other coaches in that time had either been out of the game for too long for it to matter (Smith and Anderson), or never coached before in the NRL (Freddy, Robbo).

What if i said the clubs biggest fear at the time (2005)was not renewing a certain playerscontract and giving him the flick and suffering a refereeing backlash from Daddy (The Refs Boss at the time) and lord behold the men in pink landed....and the stigma has remained

Then I would say you and your cronies from FOFF have done real damage to this club. But since I do not think that is the reason as the 1st year after we sacked Finch our penalty stats were the best they have been between now and then I think its more to do with the Anasta and Cummins run in at the end of 2007

Shervo is almost unbearable but Finchy is on Nein.

Ryan Phelan is way better than Shervo. He's a secret roosters fan too (claims to be a bronco publicly but he's at just about every Roosters home game).
