  • How will we turn up on Anzac Day?

There is no doubt that the Anzac Day game is a massive occasion; it's probably the biggest club game of the year outside the finals. As such there is no doubt that the players will be switched on and ready to play.

However, what does worry me is how we will progress throughout the game, especially if it is tight at around the 1 hour mark. The last two weeks we have been in situations to win and unfortunately we were pipped to the post both times. This will surely play on the minds of the players. Add that to the physicality of the last two games, and that we were interstate in consecutive weeks. I am worried that the boys will eventually run out of juice and could quite possibly go down in another tight one.

A tight match is almost a guarantee against a defensively very strong dragons team.

You summed up my fears too young fella. You seem a bright and intelligent lad, keep doing well and might see you on the board one day!

Even with no props left they will give a good account of themselves. In fact I think we will win it.

We're gonna miss JWH a lot.
Chance for Napa to step up maybe.

Although none of the referees are to be trusted, don't even bother turning up if Ben "Mr Fixit" Cummins gets the job.

I truly am wondering if it's worth spending the money on tickets. I hate travelling out there just to see us not bothering to turn up on the day.

We will turn up. And we will beat Saints...and the Refs.

I shall be turning up on the 11:47 from Sydenham, alighting at Central and walking up to the stadium, stopping at all hostelries on the way. Apart from the Excelsior.

I'll be arriving at the stadium at about 3:40 in a bit of a state. Love the Anzac Day game.

You can generally split our game up into 4 x 20 min periods. 1 of them will be truly great, 1 will be bog average, and the other 2 will be quite good. If we score enough points in the great period to cover the lax tries we let in during the average period we generally win.

As it was sort of touched on above though, we really have lost the ability to win tight games this season. It all started with the Cowboys final last year and has continued on in almost every game we've played that the opposition has actually put up a fight. If ths match is in the balance going into the final 10, I would not want to bet on us at the moment unfortunately.

We did beat the Cowboys though right? We did throw away the big lead however. The Panthers game was definitely one that we shouldn't have slipped, though we probably wouldn't had Casty's fairt try been awarded. It is plain to see though that it has become much harder to win those close games as we are not getting any breaks in the second half of matches. I also don't think contract uncertainty is helping or Pearce taking on the captaincy burden.

With a walking stick. A healed but weak broken left leg is my burden.
