  • Cameron Smith should be charged with contrary conduct and suspended

First half. Roosters have just been given a penalty and are actually in front in the penalty count for once. Smith to Klein: "Let's not have a repeat of last year now". Klein: "Let's concentrate on this game Cameron".

So clearly Smith was reminding Klein his team lost the penalty count the last time he refereed them (apparently the poor guys didn't receive a second half penalty - imagine what that would feel like?).

Clearly he was saying they were cheated last time and that Klein had better be nicer this time. And from that point, oh boy he sure was nice to them.

The NRL suspended Graham and Klemmer 2 weeks back for intimidating the referee. And yet here we have the Australian captain giving instructions to a match official on how he'd like the game refereed.

    Anyone agree he deserves citing?

yeah but that says to me they have a smart Captain and we have a dumb one if it had an effect on the result good on him. Our Cap currently is almost useless. We lack leadership and thats why we are losing games their is no one steering the ship.

If true that highlights what a truly stupid, lowbrow game we follow. And that maybe the referees deserve to be bashed and break their shoulders.

Maybe Mitch should take note. A quiet word, without being disrespectful might do us the world of good.

I often wondered why mini never approached the ref during games when the penalties were getting out of hand and politely asked what the story was.
Great captaincy from Smith I say

If the refs form and policies need a change take a look at NFL... dont get too much controversy.

When Pearce, Mini, or any captina we've had during this run of horrible officiating attempts to approach a referee, they just get told to get back into position and they aren't going to talk to them now. We are lucky to even get told what a penalty is for.

As for Smith, he does something suspension worthy every game in a tackle, as well as commits about 30-40 penalisable offenses (one each time he makes a tackle). If her were actually refereed like the rest of the comp - let alone as strictly as someone like JWH - he'd have left the game in his mid 20s as the ****ing scum liability he should be

This is actually an absolute disgrace. As far as I'm concerned, it's cheating.

Klein should be stood down as he's very clearly not up to the task and lets external factors influence his decisions.

But what will happen? Sweet FA.

Won't happen. The NRL WANTS its referees to have the flexibility to make arbitrary decisions that influence results. It is central to their business model.

I can't watch Origin or Test matches until he retires..he offends all of my sensibilities and is a poor example of a good sportsman. I will never forget that footage of him standing over Alex McKinnon telling him to get up or telling the ref 'oh he did it to himself!".

Yes, absolutely smith deserves to be cited and suspended.

he is a nasty dirty little disgrace. He sets the bar so high as far as protected species go its an outrage. As I understand it privately players hate the storms tactics and no one outside of the storm wants belamy as a coach. But for some reason Smith's crap and belamy's methods are rarely criticised. I once heard a not so well know first graded asked about his injury (to the head or neck) and his reply was "it was cameron smith, what do you expect". It was never talked about again, a bit like Burge$$ hit across the head to SBW last year

He controls the game beautifully, but if the same stds were applied to him and if some revenge was extracted there is a good chance he would not be rated as highly as he is

As i said in another thread, you know your playing the storm when you see leg twists in tackle and stray elbows in players backs.

I'm not sure if you saw this last night but tupou was taken out mid air by Fonua and he put his weight on tupou's foot. He twisted his leg in a horrible position.

Some of the crap they get away with you wouldn't even see in the ufc.

I think the only thing that will happen to Cameron Smith is that the NRL will indulge him Linda Lovelace style. If they didn't sanction him for arguing with the ref about penalties last year while Alex McKinnon was screaming 'I can't f'ing move, I'm f'ing paralysed' I don't think telling the Ref what to do even rates a mention.
