Packer's case highlights the NRL's double standards.

They refused to register his contract while he was awaiting his trail claiming that "they had found enough evidence of behavioural breaches" yet permitted Auva'a to continue playing for Souths after he pleaded guilty to assaulting his former girlfriend and was charged

The NRL Integrity Unit was made aware of Auva's case back in May 2014 however failed to take any action.

Auva'a continued to play out the ramainder of the season and win a grand final before finally being stood down.
