I may have missed it somewhere but why didnt the Roosters get a scrum feed from 10 out right front when the fullback knocked on with the field goal attempt??

SEcondly why is it that Maloney is copping all the criticism and Pearce is once again let off scott free, a very wise man once called him The Teflon Kid, it really is quite apt, when a game is tight and on the line he struggles, his 2 attempts at field goals tonight were more like grubber kicks, i wish somebody would supply a stat to show his FG attempts to conversion ratio, surely it would read under 10%.

No doubt Pearce had two very ordinary attempts at a field goal, but they were on 5th tackle and they were from very difficult field position. Maloney took an attempt at goal while he was falling and with another tackle up his sleeve, kicks it dead and gives broncos a 7 tackle set, then misses a crucial tackle to let Hunt score. Across the span of the game I agree that Pearce was definitely no better than Maloney tonight, his repeat sets and try set up were crucial for us getting back on top of that game, even if it was only for 15 minutes, but those two mistakes cost us the entire game, and are inexcusable at this level.

I heard the commentators say that when the FB touched the ball, the field goal should have instantly been awarded. Anybody about to confirm whether this is true?

Regardless, I'm not gonna get down on that point. Yeah... Maloney played well.

Ben Hunt... supposedly played well because he scored the match winning try. Forget his kick near the end that went out on th full... WTF was he thinking there? IMO that's how it rolls. When you win, you're awesome. When you grind out a tough game and narrowly lose you're absolute rubbish. Go figure!

You're allowed to touch the ball in a field goal attempt and if you do get a touch it's not a knock on because its deemed as a charge down.

Yep, Finchy would have put the field goal over without too much effort at all.

Yes maybe Finch and Braif can come out of retirement and replace the current halves.
Seriously blame our forwards who got severely dominated for the second week in a row. Forwards were piss poor. Halves made mistakes and may have taken wrong options but our forwards need to assert some authority and harden the **** up!

In defence of Maloneys 4th tackle attempt. We all know it is considered you should get more space on the 4th to get a decent kick away, rather than the last. That's usually the case except when it's a Bronco 5metre rule and the Refs are never going to blow a penalty for it.

Pearces inability to close out a match and control the pace of the game is his greatest flaw and pretty much the only real thing that sets him apart from a player like cronk. He has all the physical skills. Just not the control.

Mate I think he means that after the ball hit the crossbar and bounced back, the full back touched it and knocked it forward. Then I think Jared jumped on it.

yeah, and he's saying it wasn't a knock on it was a charge down from 35mtrs away from the kicker. I'm saying the rule says its only a charge down when its on the rise from the foot of the kicker.
Unless there's some anomaly in the rules about being able to charge down if you can knock it from the cross bar ...who knows, it was news to me last week too when the penalty from the drop goal infringement was taken 10mtrs out & directly in front.

In a different era, he would've made a better lock forward than his old man.

I ain't anti-Pearce, but.....................the critics are very unfair when they attack our currant halves pairing.

The rule does state the following;
1. If the ball is touched on a drop goal attempt and it does make contact with the cross bar, then the one point is awarded to the attacking team;
2. If the ball is touched forward by the defence in an attempt to prevent the field goal and an defensive player touches the ball in an offside position then the attacking team is awarded a penalty 10 metres out right in front; and
3. If the ball is touched forward by the defence in an attempt to prevent the field goal and an attacking player comes in contact with the ball (whether in an offside position or not) then the attackig team is awarded a scrum in the position of where the first indiscression occurs (which is the knock on)...
In summary, we got screwed and nobody cares because it was not South Sydney and it was a team who posses as a threat to South Sydney's back to back premiership hopes....
I am disgusted with the club that they wish not to point this error out all because they do not want to lose $10,000. Someone should email Paul Kent and get him to look into it as he has an agenda to bring down the referees boss and their current system. Afteral, look what he did to Todd Greenberg on NRL 360 last week.
