  • No Way Back

Well who would've thought that after last year's effort that we could stoop to these lows. I was expecting us to have a red hot tilt at the comp this year. At this rate a 2nd spoon in 3 seasons is well and truly on the cards. Our depth is not as good as first thought. In saying that I feel we have to reinvent ourselves again. It's obvious there are quite a few players who need to be shed. I truly believe that with Pearce at half we won't win a comp. His game is too one dimensional. Lam was a better half than Pearce. Anasta and Miniciello have gone past their use by date and we desperately need a winger and another centre. Our only trump card atm is Todd Carney, maybe we should ask the NRL if they can commision someone to design a ball in the shape of a stubby so that when Carney returns he'll hang on to it longer. So a new half, centre, winger, fullback and lock/2nd rower to replace Anasta. And they should groom someone like Kennedy or Symonds for the captaincy.
We seemed to do our best last year with Linnet in the side so maybe we should bring him back.

I think we are still a good chance to win this comp if the players turn up like they did today. I think we played very good football today and were in with a chance without our best attacking wepon begin there ( T Carney ) if he played im sure it would have helped us to create as few more points and if J Carney had of held on to that one in the corner it would have been 14 18 with 10 to play.

As for Pearce i think he is still playing good once he gets T Carney back i think that will help his game he is trying to be the player he is not with Anasta as 5/8. He also not the type of player that can make something out of nothing that what Carney brings

It's a little premature to throw in the towel at the end of Rnd 7..

Im with you on Linnet coming back in and I'd give the captaincy to Myles amongst some of the changes, but once our real number 6 gets back in we're in there with as good a chance as any of the top sides in point scoring ability...

Maybe a few here might disagree but I also think the loss of Perret is hurting our gaining yards out of our half..Things seemed to flow a lot easier when he was in.. Maybe J Carney is a still a little rusty and not at his best at this stage but Perret should come straight back in when he's healed.

J Crew Carney had a decent game, and he was the meter eater from dummy half today.

He's a good battering ram not a winger but then neither is B.J.

You were there in 2009 right? I don't think we're at that level. Yet. And we might not get there.

RC calling them dead ducks again after a good performance. Last time this happened was after the Warriors game last year.

I might check the premiership odds.

I agree Rooster. I see the Merge who won the GF last year surging ahead, we have collapsed, I dont know why ??

If the Merge lose Boyd through injury, will they still be a force, I bet yes. I reckon the same if they lost Soward. I hope we are not this 1 player team that some seem to think we cant be competitive without Carney.

I thought we were ok today.

We worked some nice plays on their line but just stuffed up the last pass.

It's easy to say we missed Carney but we really did. Saints looked dodgy at times but we just lacked that class to make them pay.

We are not in good shape but I have no doubt if we have that effort against other teams we will win a few soon.

After 20 mins you could see we were never gonna win that game....and you all know it!
When Boyd and Gasnier high fived after a try.......i died a little on the inside!
