  • Rule reform required for Blocks

the amount of times that players, toups especially have been blocked or semi-tackled while trying to contest for the ball is ridiculous. Players are running with every intention to not play at the ball and to impede players who are going for the ball . It happened to sheck today and numerous times to toups. It is a sloppy rule atm.

The kicks need to be more angular/cross field. The chasers line to the ball should be on either side of it and then check just before jumping.

Toops gets so much confidence from those aerial tries, it really sets him up for the rest of the game.

Too have him impeded every time is disgraceful.

Toops looks average at best with all that blocking going on.

Everyone said watching tries from kicks was boring, there needs to be more tries scored through the hands- we want exciting footy back. It was apparently so easy to just keep putting in cross field bombs to 10 foot tall wingers that grow on trees. The NRL refuse to address the blocking situation because they think it's solving a problem in the game. They then introduced the 7 tackle rule for kicks that go dead partially to encourage teams to run it more on last tackle.

We can make as much noise as we want but don't expect any sympathy when it comes to attacking kicks. Rightfully or wrongfully this i how the NRL want it, if they didn't it would've been addressed a long time ago because it's become so blatant.

Personally I'd just train toops to barrel into these blockers as hard as humanly possible. Either with a firm shoulder in between the shoulder blades if they are too far from the ball, or if they are close enough with a nicely placed knee to the back of the head when "contesting" the ball.

They want to purposely get in the way then turn their back on a 100kg monster let them deal with the consequences

Luke Lewis had no problem being blocked....

Has to be faced that sharks kicking game was worlds better than ours.

I thought nene's carries today were far more potent than tupou and he can also leap a fair bit too.

I always thought what would happen if a player running to the ball is obstructed by a defender and the defender was shoved out of the way...Yes it might be a penalty but maybe eventually these idiots making the rule might say that if you impede someone running to catch a ball, it's fair game.

I thought when they first thought of bringing the rule in for a 7 tackle restart, it was to stop halves kicking it over the dead ball from 40 to 50m out and taking the fullback out of play, anything from inside the 30 was to be a normal 6 tackle restart, i think It's very unfair, a guy putting a grubber in behind the line can be penalised an extra tackle for the ball trickling over the dead ball.
